Question for Angry Birds Friends

I am playing the current episode of Angry Birds Friends on my Lenovo laptop.. When I choose my power-ups I go from left to right. I just noticed today that when I choose Big Red power-up on the far left side, it shows that I've chosen him, the game subtracts one of his lives from my total, but when I fling him with the reallly big one at the far right end, Big Red has lost his power, and the realllly big one just kind of goes "flump", and that's it. Those two power-ups together not only cost a lot of coin, but they are also the point gatherers of the game (for me). It's happened the last 3 flings in a row. That's 300 points right there, not to mention, less than satisfactory results with the whole "flump" power he has with his buddy.
PS: this is the order I've been choosing my power-ups since I first started playing the game.
