The six statements to define safeguarding are:
1 Empowerment: Supporting individuals to make their own decisions and give informed consent.
2 Prevention: Taking action to stop abuse before it occurs.
3 Proportionality: Responding in a way that is appropriate to the risk presented.
4 Protection: Providing support and representation for those in need.
5 Partnership: Working collaboratively with local communities to prevent and detect abuse.
6 Accountability: Ensuring transparency in safeguarding practices and holding everyone accountable.
These principles help ensure that children feel safe, respected, and supported in their environment.
