I have recieved twenty seven emails with both tips and corrections, and while that may not seem like a lot, when you try to update a guide with that much info in one sitting, it can be a bit overwhelming. I'm sorry it has taken so long to get to the update, especially to you guys who have contributed. You must have felt ignored or rejected, but it is all here and all very much appreciated! Thank you very much guys. Keep the tips coming in. You are the ones that make this guide useful, all I have done is presented it for everyone to read. Also, there are some very handy tips to help you collect the parts that you lack. The purpose of obtaining ship parts in this game is more than cosmetic. There are eight parts to a ship and a total of nine sets. By combining parts from a certain set you can add health to your ship. Without spoiling anything let me just say that a ship with good health is very important towards the end of the game, so you will need all of the parts you can find. Parts can be found in treasure chests, as a parcel, in a sunken chest, and in the various shops. Linebeck's ship = 4 hearts 1 non-default part = 4 hearts 2 parts of the same set = 4 hearts 3 parts of the same set = 4 hearts 4 parts of the same set = 5 hearts 5 parts of the same set = 5 hearts 6 parts of the same set = 6 hearts 7 parts of the same set = 6 hearts 8 parts of the same set = 7 hearts All 8 Gold parts = 8 hearts ---------------------------------------------------------- (The following tip provided by: avilance) Ship part health is calculated by these rules Start: 4 hearts 2 golden parts +1 heart 3 normal parts of 1 set +1 heart 6 normal parts of 1 set +2 hearts 8 normal parts of 1 set +3 hearts So If you have 3 demon parts and 5 different parts from othe sets youll have 4+1=5 hearts If you have 3 demon parts, 3 iron parts, and 2 different parts youll have 4+1+1=6 hearts If you have 6 demon parts and 2 different parts youll have 4+2=6 hearts If you have 3 demon parts, 3 iron parts, and 2 gold parts, youll have 4+1+1+1=7 hearts If you have 6 demon parts and 2 gold parts, youll have 4+2+1=7 hearts If you have 4 golden parts, 3 demon parts, and 1 different part youll have 4+2+1= 7 hearts If you have 8 golden parts you'll have 4+1+1+1+1=8 hearts so you see there are not just 1 but 3 ways to gain 7 hearts - avilance ---------------------------------------------------------- (The following tip provided by: Magic Umbreon) "Thanks for writing such a great FAQ, I have one tip to contribute. In your guide you listed that the "ONLY" way to get 7 hearts on your ship is with 8 non-golden ship parts of the same set. I have 7 hearts at the moment with a setup of 4 golden parts and 4 dignified parts, so there is another way. It might be quite helpful to people because it means you can have the gold parts equipped, and still get 7 (before you complete the set)." - Magic Umbreon ---------------------------------------------------------- (The following tip provided by: feitclub) You can get 7 hearts without eight matching ship parts. While my experiments are limited, I have noticed a distinct pattern with ship part combinations. Golden ship parts act as a "wild card" of sorts, so if you use two (or more) Golden parts with six (or less) of any other set, you will get seven hearts. I.E. 6 "demon" parts plus 2 Golden parts, or 5 "tropical" parts with 3 Golden parts. You get the idea. Notice that mixing and matching non-Golden parts will never get you more than six hearts, nor will using only one Golden part. You need at least two Golden parts to get seven hearts. - feitclub ---------------------------------------------------------- Keep in mind that the specific ship parts appear at random. You cannot go to a specific location to track down a specific part. You can go to that location, but there is no guarantee what part you will recieve. When you have the opportunity to obtain a part, do so. Duplicate parts can be sold for extra Rupees, or traded in Tag Mode via WiFi. Most of the parts usually sell for 50 rupees (at least they did in my play through), but that price isn't set in stone, it is subject to change. The parts for the Golden Ship sell for significantly more. But all prices of both parts and treasure vary from game to game. To customize your ship, go to the shipyard - the first building by the pier on Mercay Island. Talk to the guy inside wearing the blue coveralls. It doesn't cost anything to customize your ship, though he does charge a fee to fix the Salvage Arm if you managed to damage it. __________________________________________________________ A. - TIPS The following are some tips you can use to easily obtain ship parts. If you have any tips, please do send them my way so I can include them in the guide. You will get full credit for any tip you provide. See my contact info at the end of this guide to reach me. __________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ 1 - Save Before You Get It __________________________________________________________ Save before you get a part. Since the parts appear at random, if you do not get the part you need, you can reset the game and try it again. This applies to the chests detailed in the Treasure Chest sction and what ever you may find in one of the shops. All of the ship part chests in the Temple of the Ocean King reset every time you exit the Temple. __________________________________________________________ 2 - Temple of the Ocean King, Tip 1 __________________________________________________________ This is a method I used quite a bit. After you retrieve Tetra from the Ghost Ship and visit with Zauz, you are shown a new path to take in the Temple of the Ocean King. Once you take that new path, a yellow light appears near the entrence allowing you to return to the 6th floor and by-pass the previous floors. Step into the light and make your way to B9. There is a Red Phanotm carrying the square piece. You don't need the square piece, but you do need to defeat that Phantom. To do so, use your boomerang to hit the weird spherical orb until it faces the eye mounted on the wall. Shoot an arrow at the orb, which will redirect it into the eye. This deactivates some spikes that guard a pressure switch. Make your way to that switch, which opens a trap door when you stand on it. Let the Phantom walk over the trap door, then activate the switch. He will fall in, giving up the square piece, but most importantly, a chest will appear in the bottom left corner of the map. The chest contains a random ship part. You can repeat this manuver every time you re-enter the Temple of the Ocean King. Once you have the Grapple Hook, making your way to B9 becomes much easier. Once I get the ship part, I save and quit, which returns me to the Temple's entrence, where I can step back into the yellow light and do it all over again. __________________________________________________________ 3 - The Check's in the Mail __________________________________________________________ Get the Post Card! Through the trading process, you can get free parts and treasure in the mail. To accomplish this, first you must have all 4 ocean maps. In each section of the ocean maps is a travelling ship. To begin the trading process, go to the North Eastern map and board the travelling ship. Defeat the monsters and meet someone as annoying as Tingle. For defeating the monsters, he gives you the New Hero's Clothes. Take the New Hero's Clothes to the travelling ship in the North Western ocean map. He will give you Telescope. Take the Telescope to the travelling ship on the South East ocean map and give it to the Hoho, who will then give you the Guard Notebook. Take the Guard Notebook to the travelling ship in the South West ocean map. He will give you a Wooden heart. Go back to the South East ocean map and visit the new ship on the waters. It is the Old Wayfarer. Give him the Wooden heart. He tells you to go back to Bannan Island, so do so. In the Old Wayfarer's house is a chest which contains the Swordman's Scroll. Once you have the scroll, go back to the North Eastern ocean map and visit the Man of Smiles again. He will give you the Postcard. Go to any island and mail the Postcard off. Now, you will randomly get ship parts and treasure in the mail! (The following tip provided by: Rev. Link) I was reading your ship part guide on GameFAQs, and I felt I needed to point something out to you. You detail an elaborate trading sequence after getting the Hero's New Clothes which eventually leads to getting the Post Card. Well, you don't need to actually do any of that trading. Once you get the Hero's New Clothes, just go right back into the smiling man's boat and fight the monsters again. He'll give you the Post Card right there. You can even keep getting more Post Cards over and over every time you fight the monsters on his ship. You might have to wait until you get your item in the mail before you can get a new Post Card, I'm not sure. - Rev. Link __________________________________________________________ 4 - Change the internal clock __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: ChaoticFlux748) First you need to travel to the Spirit Island (Where you offer up spirit gems). Land there, then leave and save right outside. This ensures that when you start the game up again after saving you will be right outside of the Spirit Island. Now go to the Traveler's Ship right near you and save the man and he will provide you with treasure. Now exit his ship, save, and turn off your DS. Now advance your DS clock one day and start the game up again. Now return to the Ship and save the man for more treasure. Repeat this process to get treasure to fuel the next step. Now that you have your treasure make your way back to Mercay Island and sell some of it to get about 9999 Ruppees. Now leave the island and save. Next, head to Beedle's ship and buy whatever parts you need from him (It helps if you're a VIP because of the low prices. If you're not already one, you will be very soon). Now exit, save and then advance your DS clock. Now restart the game and it should prompt you to create a rout. Head over to Beedle and buy some more parts. Repeat the process as needed. - ChaoticFlux748 (The following tip provided by: truXor) To increase your chances on getting ship parts by 'changing the internal DS clock to one day forward', you have to copy your main file with enough rupees on it, an example would be 9000. Once you copy your file you will have another one with that amount of rupees and same ship parts. Now, change your internal DS clock to one day forward then check your first file and go to Beedle to see if he has the necessary ship parts you need. After checking and buying what you need (or not), hit start and choose 'Save and Quit' save then end the game and you should be back to the main menu. Now choose the copied file and check what Beedle has for sale. You would think he had the same items for sale from the first file but he is selling other items. By doing this you can increase your chance of getting that ship part you need by 2. If he doesn't then turn your DS off and change your internal clock once again and do the same thing until you get every single ship part or you are satisfied of what you have. Then what you do is have a friend who has another The Legend of Zelda: TPH game and who you trust (someone who is close) to trade your ship parts to your main file. Then if you want you can delete the copied file and have the space free again and have your main file have everything on it. - truXor __________________________________________________________ 5 - Archery Game (Molida Island) __________________________________________________________ (The followign tip provided by: skinnyguy1234) In the Archery Game, if you get more than 1700 points you can get a ship part as a reward! - skinnyguy1234 (The followign tip provided by: David Barnard) Hi I have been trying to get the Gold Ship parts. In the Archery game I have found that if you score 1700 or more but less then 2000 you get a small or medium value ship part. (I havedone this about 30 times and never got a gold part.) If you score 2000 or more you get a heart container the first time you do this and a high-value ship part. I have scored 2000 or more about 8 times and got 3 gold parts from this (the other 5 times I got parts that sold for 1500 each so it's a good way of making money). It is very tricky to score 2000 or more and it took me several attempts to do it but with practice I normally manage to score 2000. This seems to be the easiest way to get gold parts without trading. Take Care - David Barnard __________________________________________________________ 6 - Bomb Game (Bannan Island) __________________________________________________________ In the Bomb Game, if you get more than 2500 points you can get a ship part as a reward! __________________________________________________________ 7 - North West Traveler's Ship __________________________________________________________ Go to the guy (what is his name anyway?) that wants to teach you how to be a hero. Continue to spar with the guy until he gives you a heart container. Afterwards, you can spar with him as much as you like. Beat your high score to win prizes. If you score a lot of hits, you can win ship parts. There is a trick to this. All you have to do is beat your high score, so only beat it by one point. Doing so will land you a win against him, gaining a prize in the process and by only beating your high score by one point, the next time you fight him, you don't have to beat a rediculously high score to win. Just keep on beating him by one point! (The following tip provided by: Zeckiris) You actually only need to get over 200 hits on the wierd guy in green in order to get a new ship part. I made the mistake of getting up to 500 something when i first played and though i didnt get over my highscore whenever i got more than 200 hits then i still would get a ship part. Though you probably already know, when fighting him i found it was best to all out attack him untill he spun his staff, then as soon as he starts to do that you step to the left or right, dont run straight away from him. - Zeckiris (The following tip provided by: hithere) Sword fighting trick. Don't go all out. Use a steady rythm that is slower than the "frantic tapping" attack speed. If you do this right, the guy you are fighting hardly ever attacks you. Most the time he will push you away instead of attacking. I have got over 100 hits on him without him doing a single attack on me using this tactic. It makes it so much easier. Also, getting him into the gap where the plank joins the ship makes it alot easier to hold him in place and keep your rythm going. - hithere __________________________________________________________ 8 - Pirate Ship Remains __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: chibi-acer) I've had a fair amount of success by shooting down pirate ships. In my experience so far, every time you kill the main ship of a pirate fleet, a sunken treasure X will appear on your map. I'm pretty sure you get a ship part every time. So far I've gotten 8 parts this way. Not sure if there's a limit on the number of ships or selection on parts you can get, but it seems to be working. - chibi-acer (The following tip provided by: GexetGuy) Each time you destroy a large pirate ship (with the sail) it will sink to the ocean floor, and a red X will be left on the sea chart where it sank. Just use a salvage arm like you would a normal treasure, and it's always a ship part. However, if the red X from a pirate ship is on the sea chart when you dock on an island, the X will be lost. Also, the pirates you destroy are reset when you dock on an island, so you can do this process over and over again. - GexetGuy __________________________________________________________ 9 - Temple of the Ocean King, Tip 2 __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: JKSlider) I have found the best way to get ship parts in the game... the only problem you have to have the phantom blade. Once you have the phantom blade go to the temple of the ocean. Now warp using the yellow warp pad. Once you have warped take the exit on the top. Now take the moving platforms past the arrow shooting things then hang a left. Go down and kill the Knight on the way. Head up the stairs in the lower left hand side of the map. As you as you come out the stairs swing and kill the knight. Take a right and walk across the invisible walkway. Now head up the stairs...there should be two more Knights on this level. Run towards the lower one to get his attention then run back to the safe zone by the steps. When he turns his back kill him and immediately run to the right and then up to kill the second Knight. A treasue chest will appear this contains the first of three with ship parts. Head back in to the same stairs you just came up a second ago. Head left across the invisible bridge and take the steps on the other side. after you come out of the stairs head to the upper left hand side of the map and get your Ship Part. Now go back down the steps you came up. Head up and kill the blue Knight. Go down and cross the invisible bridge and go up to where there is a whole in the wall (for a bombchu). Send a bombchu throught the whole and hit the switch. Run up and kill the red Knight. Grab the treasure that appeared and head throught the door your bombchu opened. One more to go, and there is only one Knight on this level. Head straight for the Knight watching out for the wizrobes. Kill the knight and grab the chest. It will contain your 3rd Ship Part. Back track and head back to the yellow light. Once you warped through the yellow light all the Dungeon will reset so you can go do all this again. Once you get the path memorized it takes about 3 minuits to do all this. Good luck. - JKSlider (The following tip provided by: Andrew Wilson) I was bored last night and decided to make a video of JKSlider's fabulous advice. I find it a bit difficult to look back and forth from the DS to text and always lose my place, so this is for the more visual people like me. Also those who don't speak English well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86Itcjz-C6k - Andrew Wilson __________________________________________________________ 10 - Check the Shops __________________________________________________________ One thing that this guide doesn't hit on (it is mentioned once in the introduction) and that is to periodically check the shops. A lot of times they will have one or two ship parts for sale. Shops are located on: Mercay Island - The building that resembles a teepee. Molida Island - The building that resembles a teepee. Goron Island - The building that resembles a teepee. Beedle's Ship - Beedle's ship will appear on all four of the sea charts. If he hasn't appeared on the map you are currently on, just wait a bit to see if he'll show up or go look for him in a different part of the ocean. Masked Beedle - There is a trick to making Masked Beedle appear. See Tip 12 for the secret! The appearance of this ship is very rare, but so are the items he sales. If you see Beedle's icon on the map and he has a mask on, stop your ship and set a path straight for Masked Beedle. Don't miss the opportunity because it may be the only one you get. I saw him the first time I played the game and now, in my second run through, all I have left is to defeat the last boss and I still haven't seen the Masked Beedle. (The following tip provided by: saudzarouni) I noticed that after becoming a VIP with Beedle, he sells the golden ship parts also at the 40% discounted price. - saudzarouni (The following tip provided by: Zelda master8) I know of a way not listed in your guide to get ship parts. 1.Save outside mercay island. 2.turn ds off 3.remove game 4.change internal date 5.put in game and go to beedle. This will swap out Beedles parts for new ones and replace ones you bought. - Zelda master8 __________________________________________________________ 11 - Help with Gold Ship Parts __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: Ctrl_Alt_Destroy) I have gotten really good at the archery game lately, and I have gotten a little easter egg as a result for playing it so much. Romanos (The archery range guy) will rarely hand out golden ship parts as a result of getting above 1700 points. So far I have 2 gem anchors, 2 golden hulls, a golden handrail, and a golden wheel just from winning the game. Igot the golden chimney from Fuzo for getting 4 big plays online. Just thought this would be helpful for players hoping to get gold ship parts. - Ctrl_Alt_Destroy __________________________________________________________ 12 - The secret to Masked Beedle! __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: HyperSiIence) To reach Masked Beedle's ship, you must be playing the game between 10:00PM and 12:00AM (midnight) on a weekday or between 10:00AM and 12:00PM (noon) on a weekend, according to your DS's internal date and time. Masked Beedle sells more valuable things than regular Beedle, including a heart container and gold ship parts. - HyperSiIence (The following tip provided by: Zelda master8) And another way to make masked beedle appear to make the "Masked Ship" (Beelde we all know its you in a mask) change the internal date to a weekday go to the game save, turn off, change date to the next day to make the masked ship appear! (do not remove the game during this process) - Zelda master8 (The folowing tip provided by: f25274/awesomeguy888) First Stay at Mercay island near the harbor(Linebeck) Set the clock up to Masked Ship time Watch the calender and set up the right time weekdays 10P.M.~before morning weekends 10A.M.~before afternoon This will help because usually he pops up right next to Mercay island and he usually sells the golden ship parts. If he doesn't have what you need then turn off your DS and put your DS time one day before that day (Don't forget the Masked time). He says he'll be closing in 7or 6 or 5 or 4 or 3 or 2 or this is the last day. Ignore it and repeat it. Remember that you can't go back one day at all! - f25274/awesomeguy888 __________________________________________________________ 13 - Temple of the Ocean King, Tip 3 __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: Mystery_Cooper) Defeat all the Phantoms on the the 13 floor and re-enter the room before the first fight with Bellum. Upon entering, 2 chests appear. As far as I can tell, they only contain Ship Parts, and they seem rarer than the ones I've gotten from Floor 7 - 9, as I haven't gotten Golden parts from Floor 7 - 9. I've done this several times, so I'm pretty sure there's an unlimited amount of chests there. You can start from the first floor or the sixth. As long as you make it to Floor 13, and take the Blue Portal back to the top of the temple, you shouldn't have any trouble spawning the chests at the end. - Mystery_Cooper __________________________________________________________ 14 - Temple of the Ocean King, Tip 4 __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: Ezlo Minish) I recently discovered that you get stamina bonuses for the ship not only for lots of parts from one set, but from different sets. I currently have 4 parts of the "bright" set and got 5 hearts. yay. I then added my newly discovered drill prow, chain handrail, and iron hull (iron set) and the guy told me I had thought of a good combo and I now had 6 hearts. I go out to sea and I do! Basically, using 4 parts from one set and 3 from another, it counts as 6 or 7 of one set. I don't know if 4 from one set and 4 from another gets 7 hearts, as I only have a stone chimney and can't check... (someone else might be able to though.) - Ezlo Minish __________________________________________________________ 15 - Temple of the Ocean King, Tip 5 (SPOILERS) __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: Michael D.) (SPOILERS) you should probably either be up to or have beaten the possessed pirate. Enter Mercay island temple. Do not step into the yellow beacon. Run down the whole temple as fast as you can and just kill EVERYTHING on the way down. Downing all the phantoms in one room will earn you a ship part. All the eyes will earn you a ship part. And defeating ALL the monsters in the temple on one run through on every level will earn you two ship parts after you enter the final set of doors on B13. The doors that are guarded by 3 normal phantoms, then 3 rapid phantoms, then 3 teleporting phantoms. That's about it... the run takes about 20 minutes and also you only need about 10 minutes of your sand of hours to do it. Thats my best anyway. (END SPOILERS) - Michael D. __________________________________________________________ 16 - Borrowed from Rupeeman and FierceMaster __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: Genius_Design69) The one thing I don't think you've put in your guide is that if you complete the whole temple with 25 minutes left on your hourglass, when you enter the final dor on B13, you get 2 chests that are GUARANTEED to hold Golden ship parts!! That tip is not my own, it's from an FAQ on that exact subject (Ocean Temple Clear Speed FAQ) by Rupeeman and FierceMaster. I've not managed to do it yet but they say it's true. Their FAQ is actually on the same Gamespot page as yours: uk.gamespot.com/ds/adventure/thelegendofzeldads/hints.html - Genius_Design69 __________________________________________________________ 17 - Deja vu, all over again. __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: TheomanZero) I found that whenever I saved before salvaging a ship part from a treasure chart and tried it over and over to get something I didn't have, I noticed that I always got the same type of ship part (wheel, bridge, chimney, etc.) no matter how many times I tried, though the set varied. So if you're trying to get a certain ship part, if you save before salvaging from a treasure chart and it turns out to be of the type you need, keep trying, but if it's a type that you already have in all of the sets, don't bother. I haven't noticed this happening for anything else (chests, in the mail, etc.). - TheomanZero (The following tip provided by: Ray Kremer) While taking advantage of the "Save before you get it" tip, I noticed something unique about the ship parts coming from sunken chests marked by treasure maps. It would always be the same type of part. I.e., if I saved and pulled up a chest and it was a wheel, then reset and pulled it up again, it would still be a wheel, maybe a different kind of wheel but always a wheel. This really boosts the odds of getting a particular ship part that you need via the "save and reset" grinding method. - Ray Kremer __________________________________________________________ 18 - Tips from Italy __________________________________________________________ (The following tip provided by: Vinter Varg) I noticed that the best very best way to get ship parts is playing the archer game. If you practice a lot then you will be able to get 2000 points every time and you will receive every time a ship part, and VERY OFTEN A GOLD PART. It's the best way because you don't have to shut down your DS for changing internal clock, so you don't waste time (each archer game will take you 70 seconds and a ship part) and you don't have to waste money buying gold parts from masked ship, you will get many of them for 20 rupees each!!! With this tip I have obtained ALL GOLD PARTS in one day and I miss 3 ship parts to have it all. Thank you for your useful guide! - Vinter Varg __________________________________________________________ II - COMPLETE SETS This listing is classified by the Hull part since the Hull embodies the ship's theme. This list is grouped by each ship's theme set so that you can know exactly which parts belong to the set and customize your ship accordingly. __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 1 - Standard - (Linebeck's ship) - Passable Prow - Normal Anchor - Standard Hull - Eddo's Cannon - Simple Handrail - Steady Bridge - Normal Chimey - Normal Wheel __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 2 - Bright - Bell Prow - Bell Anchor - Bright Hull - Artisctic Cannon - Arch Handrail - Restful Cabin - Elegant Chimney - Paddling Wheel __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 3 - Iron - Drill Prow - Iron Anchor - Iron Hull - Strong Cannon - Chain Handrail - Conning Tower - Parasol Chimney - Battle Wheel __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 4 - Stone - Mermaid Prow - Ancient Anchor - Stone Hull - Ancient Cannon - Pillar Handrail - Peaceful Bridge - Stone Chimney - Stone Wheel __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 5 - Vintage - Log Prow - Swim Ring - Vintage Hull - Meager Cannon - Worn Handrail - Barrel Shack - Strange Chimney - Simple Wheel __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 6 - Demon Ship - Demon Prow - Sickle Anchor - Demon Ship - Fear Cannon - Spiked Handrail - Demon Prison - Demon Chimney - Insect Wheel __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 7 - Tropical - Tropical Prow - Shell Anchor - Tropical Ship - Seapony Cannon - Wood Handrail - Shell Apartment - Horn Chimney - Shell Paddle __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 8 - Dignified - Tourist Prow - Weighty Anchor - Dignified Ship - Red Cannon - Utility Handrail - Practical Bridge - Tall Chimney - Red Wheel __________________________________________________________ Set Ship's Theme 9 - Golden - Golden Prow - Gem Anchor - Golden hull - Golden Cannon - Golden Handrail - Golden Bridge - Golden Chimney - Golden Wheel __________________________________________________________ The following eight lists name each ship piece by its specfic part. When using the Salvage Arm, try not to get in a rush. If you go slow, you have a better reaction time. There will be times when you will have to speed up to pass a moving mine, but if you initially go slow, that buys you the time you need to pass the mine at the right speed. Also, if your Salvage Arm takes damage, return to the Shipyard on Mercay Island and have it repaired. If you let it get completely destroyed, it is far more expensive to replace than to repair it. Destroyed Salvage Arms can be replaced by Eddo on Cannon Island. Located Details Cannon Island In a chest near the bees before the bomb garden. Isle of Ember Astrid's basement. Zauz's Island Use the stones to make X mark the spot. Isle of Gust Defeat all of the Miniblin to make the chest appear. Isle of Gust Chest in the bottom right of the Sandworm desert area. Mercay Island In front of the tree by Oshus's storehouse. Mercay Island Obtain from Freedle Molida Island Get from little girl in red by the pier. Goron Island Obtained after defeating all of the yellow chuchus. Goron Temple In a chest on the 1st floor. Goron Island Use a bombchu to hit the orb in the maze. Isle of Frost Use the pegs to reach and then dig on a small island. Harrow Island Play Treasure Game. Harrow Island Play Treasure Game. Harrow Island Play Treasure Game. Harrow Island Play Treasure Game. Molida Island Use the grappling hook to reach a small island with a tree, dig in front of the tree. Bannan Island Dig to the left of the sign in front of the Wayfarer's house. Bannan Island Between two chest north of the bomb game. Traverl's Ship North East portion of the overworld map. Maze Island Complete the maze on Normal difficulty. Isle of the Dead Bomb the wall by the exit in the cave. Isle of the Dead Use the underground path to get to the ledge. Temple of the Floor B10, use the hammer on the Ocean King switch. Temple of the Floor B12, hit the orb. Ocean King __________________________________________________________ XII - LETTERS __________________________________________________________ The following list details the letters Link recieves that contain ship parts. From Sent after... Old Wayfarer Link first visits the Old Wayfarer on Bannan Island. Romanos Link completes the Temple of Courage. Joanne Link delivers Jolene's letter to Joanne. Linebeck your visit to Zauz & you both learn about the Phantom Sword. __________________________________________________________ XIII - TREASURE CHESTS __________________________________________________________ The following lists names the locations of the chest that contain ship parts. These chest are found in the overworld areas (a cave, a building, a cliff). Located Details Mercay Island Enter the shipyard (the building near the pier) and simply open the chest. Mercay Island See the Tag Mode section of this guide for step by step directions to this chest. Isle of the Dead In the first cave near the pier, bomb the wall (rupoor room). __________________________________________________________ Temple of the Ocean King The following chests are found in the Temple of the Ocean King. The good thing about these chests is that every time you leave the temple, then re-enter, the chests are reset, meaning that you can go in and out an unlimited amount of times to get ship parts! See the Tips section of this guide for more detailed explanations of obtaining the easier to get chests. __________________________________________________________ Floor Details B7 Defeat the three Phantoms on this floor to reveal the chest in the top right corner. You must pass through B8 to reach the chest, requires the Phantom Sword. B8 Defeat the three Phantoms, chest appears on the right side of the room, kinda in the middle, requires the Phantom Sword. B9 Defeat the Red Phantom to make the chest appear in the bottom left of the room, use the Phantom Sword or the trap door. B12 After placing the force gem in its slot, destroy the Wizzrobe that appears to reveal the chest on the far left of the room. Stairway Defeat the Phantoms on B13 to open the way to Bellum to the Stairway to Bellum. Step into the blue light, returning to the Temple's entrence. Exit the Temple and reset the Phantoms within, then return to B13. Defeat all nine of the Phantoms again to make two ship part chests appear in the Stairway to Bellum. __________________________________________________________ XIV - TAG MODE __________________________________________________________ You have heard about Tag Mode but you aren't quite sure how to do it, that is what this section of the guide is for. Why is it in this guide? Well, Tag Mode is one of the ways of obtaining Ship Parts! (You can trade treasures too, but this guide is about ship parts). So how exactly do you go about using Tag Mode? Well, don't bother trying until you have the bow and arrows. Once you have them, then . . . Go to Mercay Island. Go to the screen with the Temple of the Ocean King. Before you walk up the steps leading to the temple, to the right is a place on the cliff face to lay a bomb, do so. You can enter this cave as soon as you get the bombs, it leads to a treasure chest containing a power gem, nice. But once you have the bow and arrows, shoot the eye that is mounted on the wall near the chest. A bridge will appear. Cross the bridge and exit the cave (fight the merman if you want, or just run past him). Out side of the cave, you will see another eye to your left. Walk up the steps, then turn and shoot the eye to make the stone head rise. Follow the path to the right without jumping down, then head south to the next screen. Grab the two chests, (one a large green rupee, the other a ship part!) then return to the stone tablet near the cave. The stone says, "A cliffside not so far from here has a hidden weak spot ... Shine a beam parallel with a line between the temple and Mercay Tavern ..." So press the B button and draw a line from the tavern to the temple ("from the tavern to the temple," sounds like the title of an old church hymn). Now go to the face statue and make the beam parallel with the line you drew on your map. See where the beam crosses over the dark brown part of the map? There's your weak spot. Go lay a bomb there. Pass through the cave and you will come out on that island in the north east corner that you have been wondering how to get to. Now go up and talk to the weirdo playing the guitar and she will explain everything. You can now use Tag Mode to trade with people locally or on line and get ship parts (and treasures too)! --------------------------------------------------------- Ok, now on to the meat and potatoes on Tag/Battle Mode. Since I don't have anyone to connect with nor can I go WiFi, Buttercup was good enough to write the following piece. "Here is my take on tag/battle mode: You can either play via wifi with someone you dont know or you can play with someone nearby, like a friend in the room. Which I think is more fun cause you can talk to the person or put high stakes on the game (like a fruit roll up or the last cookie). Your character gets a rating that shows your opponent how much experience you have under your belt. You start at rank H and make your way up to rank A. I havent played with people I dont know thru wifi, but I hear your rank will determine who you play against. (sorta like halo on xbox live). Also, if youre the type to shut off your DS during gameplay (poor sport) the expression on Links face will darken into a grimace to warn your opponent. "There are 8 different rooms to play in or you have the option to choose randomly. The smaller rooms are more or less for quick and fierce games while the larger rooms require a bit more strategy and leave room for fighting dirty. "The object of these battles is to get more points than your opponent. The idea is simmilar to room B3 in the temple of the ocean king. One person plays as Link and the other plays as Phantoms. There is a red base and a blue base. Triforce shards are placed in safe zones. Big triforces are worth more points than small ones. Although, they are heavier so you walk slowly. Then after each round you switch roles. Same phantom sight rules apply- you cant see link while hes in safe zones. Throughout the map there are power-ups that do things from making you faster to scattering ALL triforce gems (even the ones that have been put into red/blue bases) randomly over the map. "There are Big Plays you can score. Big plays are similar to the bonuses you get after a brawl for extra points in the game Super Smash Bros: Melee (for GC). You earn a title according to certain feats you accomplish. After every 4 different Big Plays you achieve- you can sail to Cannon Island in adventure mode and have the option to purchase Golden Ship Parts. There are 16 different big plays. "To trade items to another player (such as ship parts I may have 2 of and a friend has none), or items the other person can sell for rupees. Sorry about totally pwning you- heres some Goron amber with a bug in it. You can hock this for 800 rupees. You must have both already gotten the bombs and bow in adventure mode first. Then go talk to Freedle- found on Mercay Island, he will explain how to trade." A huge thanks goes out to Buttercup for explaining all of that! __________________________________________________________ XV - FAQ UPDATE HISTORY __________________________________________________________ 12-05-07 - v1.6 - - Additional tips provided by: hithere, f25274/awesomeguy888, Rev. This is rarely accomplished by anyone on their own but in stead by those willing enough to speak up and offer suggestions, corrections, additional information, spelling corrections, constructive criticism, insults, and occasionally, death threats followed up by necrophiliac acts. Taking all of that into consideration, this is the part of the guide where I take a moment to say thanks and give credit to those who may have contributed in any of the manners listed above, especially the last one. I've put together a handful of guides here at GameFAQs and one thing I always try to include is a section for tips. In my experience, it is the tips section that most people benefit from and respond to the most. It is also a way for contributors to voice their advice in a stable location as opposed to a post in a thread that gets lost due to the abundance help topics and people trying to find others to trade with on the boards. The basic form of the guide is more of a reference tool, it is the tips section that makes the guide more a practical tool, more than just a book that collects dust on a shelf. I provided the meat of the guide, but it is you guys that added the gravy! CjayC - - Without you none of this would exist in its current form. Myself - - For going against my gut feeling and getting this game anyway. I've enjoyed it far more than I had expected. ChaoticFlux748 - - Thanks for the tip! Anything to make getting ship parts easier! Also, thanks for pointing out the 8th heart for having all 8 gold ship parts equipped, I hadn't noticed it. skinnyguy1234 - - Thanks for that reminder! In reminding me of the archery game, you reminded me of the bomb game too! So that's like credit for two tips! chibi-acer - - Someone said that tip was old news, but I wasn't aware of it, thanks for mentioning it! I've been using it since you posted about it. GexetGuy - - You and chibi-acer offered the same tip, but you gave a bit more information - very handy information! JKSlider - - Once you get the method down, that is quite a fast way get parts. Good tip! Ctrl_Alt_Destroy - - Thanks for the tip about occassional gold parts from Romanos. I'm still having trouble with the archery range, I'm glad guys like you (better than me) are able to find out this kind of stuff. Zeckiris - - Thanks for the specifics about the high score when sparring with the weirdo in green. you made this guide one step closer to accuracy. HyperSiIence - - Thanks for that tip! I thought Masked Beedle appeared just at random. Mystery_Cooper - - Thank you for your contribution. Since the gold parts are the most valuable, it is the tips that lead users to the gold parts that are equally valuable. Buttercup - - You (and your husband too!) are a life saver! You've added something to this guide I would never be able to give it. Thank you so much for taking the time to write your contribution. Ezlo Minish - - Thanks for sharing about mixing ship parts. That is something an anal retentive person like myself wouldn't have even tried, but it sure is handy to know. Pink Floyd - - You guys kept me "comfortably numb" with your tunes while I put together this guide. Rachael Leigh Cook - - For being on my screensaver and showing up everytime I had to take my hands off the keyboard to confirm information on my copy of Phantom Hourglass, and for being so damn pretty! hithere - - Thanks for that info about the rythm of the sword swings. That makes getting to 200 hits much easier! f25274/awesomeguy888 - - More Masked Beedle info! You helped us all to manipulate the game to our benefit. Rev. Link - - A Post Card shortcut! That's way better than FedEx! saudzarouni - - Gold parts for cheap! You have proven that becoming a VIP is worth it. Zelda master8 - - More game manipulation for our own benefit! truXor - - Very clever trick you have there. Not to mention the amount of time you save when doing it. Emblem - - Much needed Ship part cobination corrections. Magic Umbreon - - Ship part combination tip Genius_Design69 - - Tip 16, corrections for another tip TheomanZero and Ray Kremer - - You both submitted the info which became Tip 17. Andrew Wilson - - You Sir, made a youtube video for Tip 9, a visual guide You make me feel like a slacker. avilance and feitclub - - You both provided your own info for Ship part combinations. Excellent tip, Sir. *Wink* The following people all helped to confirm that Ship part pricing is completely random and varies from game to game: LoZ_Guy, mvgreen54, Zoklar, laura navarro Sarah Butler, Karl, feitclub, oraclelink Chrissy and Michael - - You both know who you are.
