I have all of the fist 8 clues and 2 out of the three traps (one from the hotel and one fron the cellar), I am stuck. The only options I seem to have is to speak to fred and end up driving then running from the ghost. What am I missing?????

Once youget to a fork in the road where one way is blocked by caution signs, ram into the signs and go in that direction. You should find the last trap there before you go back to the main road.
