You don't have to do anything; Pony Friends days work in real time, or at least the time your DS thinks it is.
It works on real time but you can cheat it by saving, turning the ds off, ejecting the game (even if your ds is in manual mode, mine wasn't progressing the day when I changed the date until I ejected it first), turn ds back on, go to settings (bottom middle of ds menu), change the date and/or time, exit (turns off the ds), reinsert game and power on, when the game starts time should have progressed.
