Question for Pokemon Pearl

For no reason at all when playing PBR I remembered an old team I had on Pokemon Stadium. I thought of remaking the team but change it a bit. Old team included these 3 Pokemon Alakazam(used to Ice Beam,Psychic,????,Recover)(now it has Protect,Focus Blast,Reover,Psychic)Mewtwo(used to have Ice Beam,Psychic,Recover,Flamethrower)(now it has Ice Beam,Psychic,Recover,Aura Sphere [hasn't changed alot huh]) Starmie(it has now what it used to have Blizzard,Surf,Thunder,Psychic[I use Psychic alot weird]),plus two new ones Arceus (Bug Form) (it has Recover,X-Scissor,Judgment,Protect)and Electivire(I can't think of any moves well other than eathquake that why lots of protects)

Any way my question is what other Pokemon should I use and what moves should it have along with my Electivire?

You can give your electivire thunder punch, ice punch and cross chop. If his attack is better than his sp.attack

Persoanlly I would scrap the whole team and make a team with: A fire Pokemon, water Pokemon, grass Pokemon, psychic Pokemon, dragon Pokemon, and ground pokemon. I would give each Pokemon moves with different types trying to get everytype known on my pokemon.

If you want you could add a fire Pokemon seeing as how you don't have any. Teach it solarbeam (grass) and that should be good.

Good moves for electrive would be: cross chop, earthquake, thunder punch, ice punch

Well I'm not sure this has anything to do with pearl... But sure How about earthquake, fire punch, thunder punch and giga impact? I wouldnt use an electivire but I guess thats an ok set. For your last Pokemon, Lets see you have a psychic, psychic, psychic/water, bug, electric. Why not something like salamence/tyranitar/dragonite/garchomp? One of them would work well. But so would a skarmory or a blissey if you know how to make good sets. Try blissey with toxic, soft boiled, double team and seismic toss, and make it hol bright powder. It will wreck lots of crap.

Use whatever Pokemon you like!!!

I'm tired of all this over analysis of what moveset is the best! The whole point of Pokemon is that it's like paper scissors rock. There will always be someone, some Pokemon better than the one you are using. It's about learning type matchups and understanding how to most effectively battle the one you are at that particular moment.

You can win with an unbalanced team, say, all ice Pokemon, if you're smart and strategic enough... It makes the game/battling heaps harder, and way more challenging. (I find it boring if I win too easily, and losing is a great way to learn about a Pokemon type)

But if you like to win easily, a good strategy is to try and incorporate as many different Pokemon types into your team as possible.

There are 17 types of Pokemon, but you're only allowed to carry six. Use dual type pokemon. It helps if they have types that are weak against eachother (say electric/water) and give them moves to match their types. It powers up their moves and eliminates a lot of the damage doe by weaknesses.

It can be dangerous, though, if you have a fire/ground type for example, and you meet a water pokemon. But you will have 5 other Pokemon in your team with up to 10 other types, so one of them is bound to work against it. It's about having as much variety as is possible for every situation. hope that helps.
