I bought a used game, how do I change my trainer's name on a saved game?

You can't change the trainer name on a game thats already started. If you want to play the game from the start with your own name you need to go to the game menu. Underneath the Continue option you should see New Game. Click on that and you'll start the game from the beginning. Warning when you save you'll erase all the saved data on the other game. So make sure you don't mind losing the Pokemon and items that are already on the game.
You cannot change your trainer name, if you wanted to start a new game, press down+B+select simultaneously.
P.S. If you just press new game, you will not be able to save game.
