How does one lower the sheen of a Pokemon after it has been maxed out after eating poffins?

After you raise the sheen of a Pokemon you can not lower it. Sorry
This is wierd because after I won a smart contest with alakazam it's sheen went down. I don't know how maybe it was after leveling up all I no was it had been full and now is not.
