Oh that darned WiFi!

An SSID is a Service Set IDentifier... It is used to basically identify the Wireless LAN you want to connect to.

Here is some info on SSID from Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSID

Do you have wireless internet in your house? If you do, you need to find out the SSID of your LAN and put that in when it asks.

None of the other stuff would have worked, if you didn't have the SSID in there.

There are a bunch of details when trying to connect to wifi, that you need to know about your internet connection, such as does it have a WEP or a WAP code... If your wireless is protected with anything other than a WAP code, the DS will not recognise the code. (it will ask what the WAP code is.)

Then you will basically have to take all your wireless protection down to hook up to wifi at your computer, and thus leaving your wireless compleetely unprotected, and without a locked password. IE, the neighbours could get a wireless enabled laptop and sit near your house and log onto your internet wirelessly and steal it for free!

You are better off, if this is the case, of going and buying one of the nintendo DS wifi USB sticks that they sell at most gaming stores. That way you can circumvent all that stuff about codes and jargon that virtually no one understands.

(ignore the age of the article, it has a picture of the connector and explains a bit about it!)

An SSID is the name of the Internet Router that you are using. The WEP code is the password that you use to access it. I have had this same problem before until I found this.
