What is the big shiny rock at rout 224?

You can use an Action Replay to get a legendary Pokemon called Shaymin.

If you get the item Oak's Letter and take it to that rock, you will find Oak, he will ask you a question and a path will appear. If you follow the path, you will find the legendary Pokemon, Shaymin. The Oak's letter can only be obtained through a Nintendo Event (or hacking) The date of that event has not been released yet.

The big, shiny, white rock that you saw on Route 224 is an area that is used in a Nintendo Event. You are supposed to go to the Rock once you receive the event item called Oak's parcel. Go to the rock, and you will talk to Professor Oak who mentions something about a new Pokemon discovered just north of your location. The Pokemon that he is talking about is a Pokemon called Shaymin. Nothing special really, and a complete waste of time if you ask me. But, if you want Shaymin that badly, then wait for a Nintendo Event to come to a town near you, or buy an Action Replay Cheat device.

I think it's a substitution for shiney rocks in case you run out. I think you just take your Pokemon up, and you click the rock, and your Pokemon evolves if under correct circumstance (I havn't tested this, but this is what I heard).
