Do you have all the friend areas? If you do, you should probably have all the starters. That is the reason why I chose a non-starter(machop) to begin with: because I would get the partner starters after obtaining all friend areas. Did you befriend Mew? How about getting all dungeons? Did you master the Lucario rank(which I think was 15,000 rescue points) or level to the highest level possible(even I don't know the highest possible level, although a good guess would be 99 or 100) Have you gathered a good team? I just got the game a month ago and without using wonder mail or action replay, I beat the first part of the story mode. That is, beating Rayquaza and getting him to blow up the meteor. My team would be

Mochop: level 36
PokePika: level 34
Absole: level 33
(the pun-intended nicknames give away the pokemon's species)

Also, if I can bring one more member to a dungeon, it would be scythe: level 29. I haven't befriended any legendaries yet. Have you? And please tell me what you're up to so far in the game.
