Fossils are found in the underground. The Pokemon that are in them are aerodactyal, cranidos, shieldon, and some more but I can't remember.

Before you obtain the National Dex, you can only find one fossil, and the fossil varies between the game.
In Diamond, it's the Skull Fossil > Rampardos.
In Pearl, it's the Armor Fossil > Shieldon.
Once you obtain the National Dex, you can find 5 more fossils in both games.
Old Amber > Aerodactyl.
Helix Fossil > Omanyte.
Dome Fossil > Kabuto.
Claw Fossil > Anorith.
Root Fossil > Lileep.

Skull fossil-Cranidos (evoles into ramperdos)
Armor fossil-Sheildon (evoles into Bastiodon)
Helix fossil-Omanyte (evoles into Omastar)
Old amber-Aerodactyl (no evolution)
Claw fossil-Anorith (evoles into Armaldo)
Dome fossil-Kabuto (evoles into kabutops)
Im sure thats all of them.
Cranidos and Sheildon are diamond and pearl exclusives. You can only get cranidos in diamond and can only get shieldon in pearl
