What is the mystery gift for and can you use it without going to event or getting it from a friend I would be glad with anyones help please and thank you in advance have a great helping day =)

If you have WiFi and other people online are using it, then you can use it there. Otherwise, there is no other way besides from a friend or at a Nintendo Event.
