Simple....ur not using a good move set or your in low level...every starter has some good points and bad points...

There is no best, but Chimchar is top-notch. The reason she/he keeps dying is because it's at a low level, you're crappy in using moves, or you gave him a very stupid and bad moveset.

Yeah, he's the best, you're just not using him against the right trainers. Catch a Shinx. He helps you with Rival's Piplup and the fourth gym.

My brother retsrted my game a while back, and I was using chimchar. I'm using turtwig now and I'm no where close to what I was before. Chimchar is your best bet.
