I am confused. I recently got my copy today(reserved), and I've been confused..

Well it all depends on your flavor if you like water choose Piplup if you like fire/figthing chose Chimchar. There both good but one suggestion if you choose Chimchar you will ahve some trouble in Boss 1 because he is rock type pokmon, but there are ways around that as you know like Machop, trade an abra for machop with that girl in the town. I chose Piplup, I have my reason I just wanted to choose him I don't really have a reason why.

IMO...the Grass one and the Water one is good...the fire one is fairly old...it's like a new Blaziken with monkey suit nad ugly face...

Choose what you like...i'm going for the grass one..personnaly

To be honest, there are a lot of arguments about choosing "the best" starter. If you never noticed, there aint a best starter. The simple chain of Turtwig beating Piplup, Piplup beating Chimchar and Chimchar beating Turtwig is only the start of the argument, but the movepools each weild. Think about these things when choosing your starter:

What strengths rely on each?
What weak points does this one have?
How good of a movepool does this one have?

Turtwig: Turtwig is the Grass Starter. Turtwig is capable of learning Grass moves a bit early, giving it a quick advantage. Turtwig evolves into Grotle at Level 18, who is capable of learning Leech Seed. Grotle then evolves into Torterra at Level 32. Torterra becomes part Ground, making it capable of unleashing the great move, Earthquake. The problem is that it's quite slow and gets killed by Ice Beam easily.

Chimchar: Chimchar is my personal favorite choice. Chimchar, like Torchic will have trouble with the first gym unless you evolve into into Moneferno at Level 14. Monferno can learn Typhlosion's move, Flame Wheel. Monferno is also like Combusken, it's part Fighting. Monferno then evolves into Infernape at Level 36. Just like Blaziken, it's Fire/Fighting. It learns a great deal of Physical attacks and has the attack stat to use them, he's quite speedy too.

Piplup: Piplup is the water starter. Piplup doesn't learn any good moves early in the game until Bubblebeam, giving it a hard time. It evolves into Priplup at Level 16. They still aren't anything special though. At Level 36, Prinplip evolves into Empoleon. Empoleon is part Steel, giving it more some good defensive parts now.




NATURES:

Torterra (Turtwig's final evolution.): Adamant. He has awesome attack.
Infernape (Chimchar's final evolution.): Adamant. The best attack of the Starters.
Empoleon (Piplup's final evolution.): Modest. Awesome special attack.

I chose chimchar because I pick fire and I evolve them.and all you have to do is get to lv.16 and it learns mach punch.

Well if you want an easy Pokemon to start with you should pick turtwig or piplup because the first gym is a rock tpye gym. I think that turtwig is the easiest because on the GBA games the grass type has a lot of advantages in the gyms and elite 4. I chose chimchar because he has an awesome battle cry and infermo(spelling) looks awesome!! Also, Im very experienced in Pokemon and I like the challenge. Between all 3 id pick on overall........I don't know it's too hard to chose!!

Well there mostlikey the same but well heres what I mean:

Chimchar hes proble best cus hes probly the best one with gyms E4 maybe but hes good till then.

Piplup hes good for the first 6 gyms ice gym you might want a fire or flying with you.

Turtwig he has good attacks perfect for most gyms like Chimchar good for E4 sorda.

So you pick

I would pick chimcar because he has many advanages in the game.
He is FIRE/FIGHTING TYPE.
