EspeonDude_ answered:

A Friend Code is your code for a game that has Wi-Fi capablities. You can find it out by playing the game and talking to the receptionist in a floor of the Pokmon Center. If you want to play Wi-Fi with other people, you'll need to find your Friend Code and give it to other people.

Chaos answered:

A friend code is from another trainer's (real life friend) Pokemon diamond or pearl, so you can register him/her into your friend book in the Pokemon diamond/pearl game, then when you two are on wi-fi, yall can battle/trade/voice chat/play mini games.

Mummification answered:

A Friend Code is what you give to a friend to trade and battle over the WiFi connection. You get your Friend Code for a game the first time you log on to WiFi.
