Diamond and Pearl boast compatibility with many other Pokmon games. They can connect with the Game Boy Advance Pokmon RPGs after earning the National Pokdex, when the Pokmon Game Boy Advance cartridge is inserted into slot 2 (the Game Boy Advance cartridge and accessory slot of the Nintendo DS) while Diamond or Pearl is in slot 1 (the DS card slot). After uploading six Pokmon, players go to an area called Pal Park and must capture them in the wild.[11] Pokmon uploads are restricted to six per day per GBA cartridge. The player will have to re-capture such transferred Pokmon in Pal Park by the means of a special Park Ball that has 100% chance of capture, before transferring from another GBA game. Pokmon cannot be transferred from an English GBA game to a Japanese DS game, and the player cannot transfer any of the Pokmon back to the GBA cartridge once they are transferred to Diamond or Pearl.

Alchemy Wep answered:

Yes, it's possible, but I think you can only do it after the E4.

king26 answered:

Yes there is a way by using the dual slots, there is a place called pal park inthe game and when you get the national dex it mwill become availabe to you.

gableroo answered:

It isnt trading, it is transfering. The Pokmon are caught over on Diamond or Pearl. They are still the same as what you had before, but they can never go back to the other game

Mummification answered:

It isnt called trading from past gens, it is transfering. The Pokmon are caught in Pal Park on Diamond or Pearl. They are still the same as theywere an the other game, but they can never go back

EspeonDude_ answered:

You don't trade Pokmon using DS to GBA. If you do DS to GBA, it's called TRANSFERING. You transfer the Pokmon between the two games. However, if you do do DS to DS, then it's called Trading. You will swap Pokmon, like in the past.
