Ok. Ive beat this game before, so I was hoping to start again with a new, different team. I just started again, but I have a good idea what I want all around. The only problem is that I have no clue what to use as my main water Pokemon in my top 6. I would really rather NOT use shellos, b/c I used Gastrodon last time. I have a Manaphy, bu Ive heard that he's not a very good Pokemon to use. If anyone can tell any different I would like to know! Because Im curious if maybe is worth some time. Otherwise....I can't use Piplup and I'm not sure about Vaporeon, so If anyone has any suggestions also of any other Pokemon they highly recommend, plz inform me! THNKS!
My team: Turtwig
Staravia
Luxio
Manaphy

I have a strong bias towards starmie, mostly because it totally owns. However it's not really available until late in the game. I like starmie with psychic, surf, thunderbolt and ice beam. Maybe it makes sense to use manaphy until starmie becomes available later on... But hey thats just what I thought of. Vaporeon kinda sucks, don't bother with it. Tentacool/cruel could work also.
Why wouldn't you want to use a Vaporeon? If I had to choose between using either a Manaphy or a Vaporeon, then I would choose Vaporeon. Anyway, you are forgetting about a lot of good water Pokemon. You could always go out and catch a Finneon and evolve the fish into a Lumineon, who is quite strong. You could also always catch a Buizel. The water Pokemon I used though, was the infamous Gyarados. All you need to is raise a Magikarp to level 20, and then he will evolve into a Gyarados that you can use to raise havoc on. If you really cannot think of one to use, then just Gastrodon again, there's nothing wrong with that.
Hope this helps.
My favorite water types are :
Buizel or floatzel
Gyrados
And of course mantyke
