Finding the magic pole?

Hi, can anyone tell me where to find the magic pole that helps you jump further? I've looked everywhere I can think of on the ship, I've tried getting off the ship into Singapore and can't find it, and I've looked on the 1st island you open. I need the magic pole to get the cog because I can't jump as far as I need to to get it. Very grateful for any advice, thanks.

You might have already found it by now, but it is in the hold of the ship, leaning against the right hand wall.
