I personally enjoyed both and would have loved to continue the Battle Network story with Lan's kid or continue on before all that. Something nice I found in Starforce 2 was the little diary pages throughout the web that talk about Lan and his family/friends.

And Geo saying "Wave Change! Geo Stelar, On The Air!" isn't annoying either :P

Really how do you get those diary pages because if it's put in different batlle network games thats good because I have at least one of all of the games
And to mega 4 was the worst of the battle network games

I like Starforce and all, but the battle system is lacking what battle network had. The Program advances in BN were a cool aspect, combine the right chips, and you get to use a special combo of them, like the crazy Mstrstyl combo, you'd have to use Salamandr*, Fountain*, Bolt*, GaiaBlde* to do it, but when you use it, you'd split into three of the styles and unleash eight hits on the closest foe(if that one dies before then, you'd go on to another enemy) with each hit doing 100 dmg. Then after all the hits are dealt then you'd return to your original position and charge up power, then unleashing an explosion that destroys all field objects and does 100 dmg to all foes. There were others too.

Another minus for starforce is the view of the battle, I really favor the battle style of BN more, with the view over the arena. There were chips that could destroy the arena, save a few panels for the things on them. Also the fact that if an entire row was targeted, you could move to another one instead of holding up a shield and hoping it blocks, or hoping you don't get hit by another attack while you're vulnerable. One thing that was good about starforce is that, real wi-fi bros can make you stronger and vice versa. Another is the fact that you have the touch screen to use for things, like mu runes and the little waveholes that bring you into the comp spaces in the first starforce games.

Wow, a rant...

I personally say battle network is better when it comes to the battle system and the large amount of battle chips 200/85/20 in BN3. But starforce is better with the puzzles, like the flame hertz in the ruins. And who can't love the ski minigame where you get to run over the mr hertzes >=D.

I seriously can't say one is better than the other.

I've played (and beat) megaman battle network 1-4 and #6 (if anyone has any advise on how to get #5 please tell me.) I loved the first three the most. They were classic, the storyline was riviting, the charactors were lovable, and by the gods were the bosses difficult. They changed the formula for the next three games and I wasn't a giant fan of the change. (the reason I haven't purchases #5 to this date which I sorely wish to remedy)

Now both the starforce games are a nice change of pace but I personally wish I could spend more time with Lan and his firends (especially Hub/Megaman.) I do like many of the aspects of the new game, such as the touch screen minigames or some of the new chips I dislike the fact that it changed from the net to EM waves. It made puzzles more interesting yet took much away from the game. But the ability to change your name in the first game that wasnt carried over to the second was rather disappointing

If I had to choose a favorite it would have to be 1-3 for the tops. They have the best storyline.

I feel that the BN series was better in a lot of ways, but maybe I'm just too attached. The battle system in BN was way more enjoyable - BN1 introduced it, BN2 added more powerful chips and combos but was somewhat overpowered, and BN3 balanced out the high powered aspects of BN2. To me BN3 was the most enjoyable and well rounded of the BN series, as I played competitively against my friends and had the most insane matches, not to mention the satisfaction of finding one of the many secrets and secret chips that no one else had and having everyone asking how you did it. I played BN 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and didn't quite make it through 6 because my game deleted halfway and I didn't have the will to do it over again. In my eyes the BN series improved from BN1 to BN3, where it reached it's peak of quality (I'm saying BN3 was the best one, hands down), and then it all went downhill with BN4, which strayed from the formula that made the others great. BN5 and what I played of BN6 were slightly better than BN4, but never matched up to BN3.
What basically happened was the same thing that usually happens when anyone makes a sequel to a game - they make it simpler and easier to ensure that more of the players will discover most of the story. The MMBN series was getting more gimmicky with each new game, and while they hit a balance with MMBN3, eventually the whole strategy aspect of the game got watered down and simplified to make way for more gimmicks (like the soul unison system).
I bought the first Star Force when it came out because I wanted to give the series another shot after it became dull with MMBN6, and I was disappointed that they changed the formula even further and cut you down to 3 panels - I gave it the benefit of the doubt but it ended up being as dull as I expected (What ever happened to going straight up to the enemy with a hammer or sword, now everything is a cutscene-type chip?). Everything was so simplified to the point of becoming pointless, so I quit there and never gave sf2 and sf3 a chance (which were coming out so fast, one after another, that you'd get the feeling that Capcom's just pumping them out in a desperate sales attempt, hmm).

Though it's true I don't like the later bn and all the sf games, but maybe it's because they were no longer intended for my generation which no longer plays games as much as before, and the younger generations might not enjoy the BN games I grew up with as much as I did. Even so, I would still ask anyone who started off playing the SF series to at least try MMBN 1-3, because while they may be a bit dated, they are still great games and have a lot of things the SF games don't have.
