You actually cannot even make gives until you revive the Fourth and Final Character, Kumiko, Once you have healed her go to the VERY FRIST CAVE and she will be there, play along with what she says and then you can make gifts
By the way you can give Lunch Boxes as gifts, but be sure not to give them to many or they will get angry :P hope this helped at all.
Just get something you don't really need, that's easy to come by, like seaweed. Cook it and put it in a lunchbox. Give that as a gift and they love it! I do it for each character every day to keep them happy! Even though I do just about everything for them! It seems like you are raising children sometimes in this game.
You can make a LunchBox. I would make the Superb Fruit Salad. It always turns out great.
