Question for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7

G'day. At the very beginning of Year 5, Chapter 3, "meeting gwap"...I'm stuck in the "pit". I've tried to jump on the flower and "ride" it to the ledge, but never can. Any suggestions?
