Gordon(best archer) ,Merric (best Mage),Marth (well balanced) ,Lena ( great healer) ,Sedgar (if you class change) ,Frey (if you don't class change and if you DO the tutorial) ,Navarre(or Nabarl)(if you do neither)

It all depend on your personally strategy if you have a good one you could win a lot of battles. Find your team weakness and cover them some people balance others.
