How do you get partners to fight with you in this game?
I have seen some people have some characters follow them in the story. How do I get people to follow me? Is it CPU players or is it Co-op?

you get your team in stornway go to the inn if you have not yet then leave then enter again and talk to patty and you can pick the people they got or create your own people and pick there class

Talk to Patty at the inn in Stornway and select the option that lets you make a friend. Make three (i'd reccomend to make one a priest), and equip them according to their vocation. You will have to do this, the game is nearly impossible without this.

and if you talk to the ghost celestrian you can invite your friends if they are are in the same room as you. then you can go in your world and its like co op. you can have up to 3 other people.

Go to the inn at Stornway and talk to Patty (to recruit npc characters) or Pavo the Celestrian (for co-op multiplayer).

There are two ways to add characters to your party. Both are at the Quester's Rest (the inn at Stornway).
If you talk to Patty you can create additional characters, like how you created your own character. I strongly recommend you do this because otherwise you won't survive for long.
Your teammates will follow you in the field but you can choose whether you want them to follow your orders in battle or not.
If you talk to Pavo (the Celestrian) you can get other Celestrians (players) to enter your game via DS Wireless Communications. You can't save when there are other Celestrians in your game though.
You can't have more than 4 people on your team. (Not counting Dr. Phlegming when you find him.)
