To get snowflakes you have to give snowgrains to qana in snowfall grotto. She uses 10 snowgrains to make snowflakes. You can get snowgrains by flying around in the winter locations and tapping the screen to collect the snow that falls when you fly around. I got my rock crystals from jewel hunting with iridessa and also from doing favors for different fairies.
