How do I upgrade my radar, I'm in the south gobi plain and am trying to find a bamboon ?

To upgrade your radar, go to the scientist there and he will look at your radar and say something along the lines of, "Oh, dear, this radar isn't strong enough" or whatever, and then he'll fix it to be a better model.
As for the bamboo, go down from the entrance. Take a right (your right) at the third sign you see and go up the hill. You should see a sparkle icon over some bamboo trees. Go up to it to require it and take it back to whoever needed it.
