Well mainly just use the normal bombs ALOT of times
I don't think Color Bombs do anything
When Gafner uses it's purple sphere attack (or whatever it's called),
Try get behind him and place the bombs
Gafner will follow you around, just keep spamming the "A" button and he will have a high possibility of getting hurt
You also need a bit of luck AND timing for when the bombs explode
I defeated Gafner after 2 attempts
This was mainly what I did for the whole fight...
