Can anyone tell me how to get past the fist boss in the dungeon, where Sword finds Anella's hair Oranament?????

For I need help all u half to do is swing your weapon a little bit before he shoots and it will bounce off and hit the boss then you will find Anella. Trust me, it took a while for me to get it to.
