I think you can free the camel by either beating Donkey Kong's "barrel in the air thing" (after stepping on his platform - the one with his face on it) or using Diddy Kong's flying technique to fly through a red and yellow DK star symbol in the air above where the camel's cage is.

I hope those make sense and that one of the two works - I haven't played the game in a while!

To free it the Llama (camel), go to the section with the Totem Pole in the center. You will find a Donkey Pad in front of the Llama (camel) Temple. Use the pad and you will be transported to a Barrel Blast Mini-game. When you finish, a cinema will show the previously captured Llama (camel) escape. Go get that Banana!

I'v tried that like amillion times, but it never seems to work

You need to beat DK's barrel Blast in the 2nd area.Go through the star and the Llama(it's not a camel)will leave a bannana behind.You see him again in the building with the Llama picture on it.
