Welcome to my Review of NASCAR 09. I have played this game for several months now, and EA Sports always figures something different to place in these racing games each year. The first known difference is having Jeff Gordon talking and assisting you the complete game. He helps you get sponsorships, re-sign team contracts and work your way through the NASCAR divisions. I noticed a major failure unlike the other NASCAR games EA has produced and one was not giving the car models like Chevrolet, Toyota, Dodge and Ford. They also failed to place the double digit numbers instead of placing the triple digit numbers in.
Now to something more I found cool was working on your car's performance for Short track, Super Speedway, Speedway's and Road Courses. Instead of like 2003 doing the Development and Research that was time taking and sometimes annoying. We was able to do the Performance points by doing Challenges, and we can work the car's ability's up faster and easier now, and trust me it's hard to win races with a 50 good car. Still a little hard with a 100 car depending what AI Strength you pick to race on.
As for the rest of the game, not much has changed at all in the games EA Sports, there decent games to play but I will always recommend NASCAR Racing 2003 Season.
After reviewing this game deep and playing it for a while, I was thinking it has really decent graphics, besides the point of crash graphics, which EA Sports never decided they needed work on, which in my opinion I think they did need some work, I'm cutting my rating down to 8 because they failed to realize some of the little things, and sometimes I can see the pixels used to make the graphics. I'm not dissing them, but I have played many games in my time, and I have to say the only decent graphics showing playing the game is the main menu graphics and the race track graphics, I don't think the car graphics even changed much from the older games and I thought they could have been better.
I'm scoring the sound a 9 out of 10, mainly because I have to say the sound has been performed as awesome, now racing this big machines at Short tracks and Speedway's and even the Road courses you can hear that incredible machine backing down and the power blowing off as you dive into the turns. Better yet at Super Speedway's you can now hear the great horse power roaring down the long straights and around the long high banks at Daytona and Talladega. I have to say they did the work right with the sounds compared to other games and other racing games released by EA Sports, it may need some tweaks but I have to say overall I was impressed by the sound quality EA Sports has produced and revealed to the public with NASCAR 09.
The gameplay is all ways the same concept, you can play quick races, race for the chase championship, or race a regular season. Then you have the challenges, in my opinion, in which none have change the concepts are the same as all the other NASCAR games that have been released by EA Sports, trust me they could have done some work to help that but I don't think they cared and wanting to spend the time or money inventing new stuff to the games of NASCAR.
Another thing would be during the gameplay I was always wanting to see it scroll at the top of the screen the positions of all cars on top or something relating data to you to help you know where everyone is at during a race. Never happened, the gameplay is no different and playing 2005 would be no different but slight graphics and sound changes.
It's on a dual layered disc like any other Xbox 360 game, and Cd's all last the same, the little scratches can destroy a game, as well as dropping it wiping it on your shirt to clean it. It running in the Xbox 360 could even do it some damage. CD's aren't much protected and nothing can be done about that, they are also easy to break so I say depending if you have young children in the house and they like to find interest in the Cd's, I'd keep my games up, the lastability of a game I believe would decrease 50 so I'm giving this game a 5 out of 10.
After carefully reviewing this game and playing it for several months now, and continue to playing it. I have to say you should get this game no matter what I have said about it, I do like this game and love playing it when I'm not working or just plain bored cause NASCAR ain't on or just mainly nothing is going on.
The graphics are great in this game and I have to say I found the game to be a great game not only cause the graphics were a little better, but it was a little easier to see the game on TV.
As for the sounds, I love the new sound inputs. The real sound of a stock car is amazing, but listening to this I was surprised EA Sports pulled this one off due to everything else they have done. I like what EA Sports done with going on with the sound listening to the machine dive in the turns and powering up down the straights was just awesome.
So now you have my opinion in review, I think you should stop by the local store and get you a copy, for one it is a cheap game to buy and I think you would rather enjoy it if you are a NASCAR fan and like the games and want to play the games, well enjoy and I hope my review helped.
