How to Overtake
Overtaking in MXGP 2020 - The Official Motocross Videogame is tricky and is something that will become easier with the more experience you get in the game as a lot of it relies on your understanding as to where the best part of a course is for an overtake. The actual overtaking itself is something you should not rush and should initially begin by using clean lines and observing your opponents moves from behind to see if he has a habit of making a mistake you can take advantage of.
Knowing how your bike behaves in different conditions is a big factor when it comes to winning a race. Correct management of speed and acceleration during turns is crucial and understanding what the ideal speed is for a track when it is wet and slippery can give you a big advantage, as will knowing how to adapt your landing position when the track is wet and making your bike slower.
It is important that you are adept at making banked turns in MXGP 2020 - The Official Motocross Videogame because when a banked turn is taken properly it will enable you to exit the corner at full speed and get an advantage over opponents. A banked turn is a turn in which the bike inclines, usually towards the inside of the turn. Banked turns also come in useful when you enter a corner too fast and don't want to finish outside the track.
Getting a fast start in MXGP 2020 - The Official Motocross Videogame requires excellent reflexes and some luck. At the start of the race there will only be a few seconds before the gate drops to begin the race, and it is during those crucial seconds there are certain things you can do to help yourself get a fast start.
Make sure you hold the clutch and keep the accelerator at the correct RPMs, also move the body of your rider slightly ahead to keep the front of the bike down during the acceleration phase. Then it is crucial you focus concentration on the gate and the instant it drops you let out the clutch as fast as possible. You can of course try and predict when the gate will drop, but this is not recommended because if you get the timing wrong you will be blocked by the gate and start with a delay.
Aside from being knocked off by opponents there are two other ways in which you can come off your bike in MXGP 2020 - The Official Motocross Videogame and these are after a jump and during a turn. When you attempt a jump make sure you know what type of jump you are facing, and you are taking it with the correct speed as landing too soon or too late can knock you off. Also, when you face a high jump make sure you know what's after the jump and always land on a descent to soften the landing. If you are attempting a scrub which means carrying more speed heading to a jump in order to minimize the amount of air time you need to make sure you have enough space to land perfectly straight otherwise you risk losing control. It is also essential to avoid rear wheelspin and losing control when you take a corner you need to ensure you manage the bikes speed and acceleration accordingly.
