Mortal Shell Beginners Guide for Mortal Shell

Mortal Shell Beginners Guide

Learn your Foes Patterns

As a human in Mortal Shell you have an advantage over the enemies you encounter in that you can identify their patterns. Simply by paying attention to what your foes are doing and have just done will tell you exactly how to deal with them. By learning their patterns you will be able to respond at the right moments when you engage them. Most of the time you will find that you can use the same successful strategy against the same enemies in the same areas, and get the same results.

Don't Rush

Resist the temptation of changing a winning strategy and rushing to your destination as more often than not you will find yourself being ambushed or surrounded and forced to retread ground. It will save you time in the long run to instead be patient and stick to the winning formula that is paving the way for your success.

Consumable Benefits

In Mortal Shell you will find plenty of consumable items around the world, they can be dropped by enemies, found inside chests or scattered around various locations. Consumables have a familiarity level which increases each time you consume them. The higher the familiarity level the more benefits the consumable will provide.

Pay Attention to Surroundings

There is no map in Mortal Shell so you will have to rely on your mental map to get around. This means it is important that you pay attention to your surroundings and make a note of anything you can use as a marker. Things such as a broken bridge, upturned graves, places where consumable items respawn, or even an ugly tree that stands out on the landscape.

Where to Find the Shells

There are four Shells in Mortal Shell, these are amour sets that have pre-determined stats that act as your class, each shell has it's own unique abilities that cater to different playstyles. Below is a list of the shells and where you can claim them.

- Harros, the Vassal

You will find this shell as soon as you exit the tutorial. Once you have crawled through the space in front of you and taken the path forward you will see Harros on your left leaning against a rock at the dead end. This shell focuses on the hardening mechanic and has average capabilities.

- Solomon, the Scholar

You will find Solomon's shell once you have passed through the crawl space behind the Grisha boss fight. To reach the crawl space you must exit the back door of the Fallgrim Tower and follow the corpse littered path to Grisha's cave where you will find the crawl space at the back of the cave. It is not necessary to defeat Grisha to claim this shell which has average HP and low stamina, but has higher resolve which lets you use weapon skills and certain special abilities.

- Eredrim, the Venerable

You will find Eredrim's Shell slumped against a pillar in front of the Seat of Infinity temple. From Fallgrim Tower go to Grisha's cave and take an immediate right and go through the crawl space in the corner. This will lead to an enemy camp and a path that will take you to a cliff side that is being patrolled by enemy archers. Once you have made your way past the archers continue ahead until you reach the lute player and two axe enemies. If you then go up the path behind them you will find yourself on a high cliff overlooking a stone castle which if you follow the path down will take you to Eredrim??s Shell which will be next to a rock in front of the castle. This shell has high HP, average resolve, but very low stamina. This shell is basically a tank that can soak hits.

- Tiel, the Acolyte

You will be able to find Tiel's Shell in the Fallgrim Outskirts, near the Crypt of Martyrs. From inside Fallgrim Tower, take a left at the Sester and exit the castle via the crawl space in the back. This will take you near to a large knotted tree, a grunt, and an axe enemy. Drop down to the path below you will land near a torch and inscription rock. Follow the path down until you reach the lute player next to a Weltcap spawn. If you npw take a left at the lute enemy and pass through the crawl space you will arrive in the bat woods. Sneak behind the tree and take the downward sloping path on the right towards the graveyard. This shell has high stamina, but very low HP and resolve. Due to it's high stamina it focuses more on mobility, dodging, and combos.
