Listed below are several Beginner Tips and Tricks which will help you in Monark.
Search for Alter Egos
Alter Egos in Monark are small floating crystals that have a dark red aura that you will begin to come across early in the game. When you interact with these crystals two things can happen. You will either receive a stat boost for your entire party if your corresponding Ego is high enough to absorbs the Alter Ego. Characters you have not yet encountered will also receive the stat boost. Or if it is not high enough you will be told what the Ego requirement is to acquire the Alter Ego. None of them require an Ego above 500, and it is always worth searching for them in order to get the stat boosts they give. It is recommended that you make a note of any Alter Egos you come across which you cannot acquire, so you can return to the location once you have reached the required threshold.
Don't Ignore Materials
During story progression in Monark you will be able to pick up plenty of different Materials that you can read about in the Library menu. Academy and Otherworld are the two types of Materials you will find, and they relate to different things. Academy Materials deal with the Shin Mikado Academy and will give you information about its history, and clubs while Otherworld Materials will give you lore about the world of Monark and the characters within it. They will also give you hints that will help you to solve both the mandatory and optional puzzles.
Spend Spirit on Abilities
To survive in Monark it is crucial that you spend the Spirit that you earn on abilities to improve your stats. Once you start encountering strong enemies the amount of Spirit you earn from just doing Precipice battles and calls to the Otherworld will not be enough, and you will need to grind to make up the deficit. Use the 'Call' function on your cell phone menu to manually enter numbers that lead to battlefields that you can grind for Spirit or Vessels.
Grinding Spirit
The best source for finding locations in which to grind Spirit is to look at the Memos that you pick up that can be viewed from the 'Materials' menu. If you look at the bottom of the list you will see phone numbers of certain battlefields that are in the game. The Fertile Grounds battles in particular are very useful for grinding Spirit.
Take Psychology Tests
There are three students in Monark who will administer psychological tests when you talk to them. The purpose of these tests which are multiple choice questions is to develop the Ego of your character, the amount it improves will depend on your answers. Once you have found the students you will be able to grind out the test. Listed below are the three students and where you can find them.
- Tensi Matsushima
Found in the Main Building.
- Miho Sonobe
Found in the First Year Building.
- Nobutaka Iyama
Found in the Second Year Building.
Know your Friends
During story progression in Monark you will recruit aside from your human friends a total of seven Friends to your party that each represent one of the deadly sins. Each of these seven Friends possess stats and abilities that are unique, and it is important that you know and understand the strengths and weaknesses of each of them as you will need to equip them differently. It is therefore essential that you closely inspect your Friends' ability trees so that you are able to make the right decisions.
