Men in Black II: Alien Escape is a game with good intentions, but leaves much to be desired. Fans of very simplistic shooters could get some enjoyment out of it, but it may be to dull for the average games. The creators were clearly trying to piggyback on the success of the Men in Black movies, and it might've worked for a handful of die hard MIB fans, but the rest of us may have better things to do.
The graphics are a good aspect of the game. Considering that they feature snarling monsters and high tech weapons, they manage to capture a sense of realism with the way things are portrayed. Nothing fancy outside of the weapons and enemies, though.
The sound effects are mediocre at best. Sure, they have cool sounds for enemies screeching and weapons firing, but there is no attention to detail on that level. You can't hear footsteps unless you're volume is turned up absurdly loud, they do not speak for the most part, and many of the battle noises take away from the realism of the game.
A very simplistic shooter. Despite a few cut scenes, the plot of the game is almost non existant. The focus is on simply shooting bad guys and running around through various levels. A fan of the movies might be able to get some enjoyment out of it, but it is a slow paced nearly-plotless game.
Anyone who can play through this game more than once without getting bored is either a die hard MIB fan or very easily entertained. In fact, I found it difficult to play through it once without getting bored. Maybe if you played it once then took a really long break from it, you might be able to get back into it, but that's assuming you were ever into it to begin with.
It may be a diamond in the rough for fans of mindless shooters, but decent sound and graphics are not enough to make this a classic - or even really fun - game. It's not very expensive anymore, so I suppose it's worth picking up if you want to try and live the roles of the Men in Black, but I odn't reccomend it.
