Like A Dragon: Ishin! is a remake of Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin!, a role-playing historical thriller spinoff of the Yakuza: Like a Dragon series that was originally released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Set in 1860s Japan during the Bakumatsu Era at the end of the Edo period. Kyo, Japan's capital city at the time is plagued by widespread inequality, and one samurai will change the course of history in his search for justice. Take up the sword of Sakamoto Ryoma and venture to Kyoto to find your father's killer, clear yourself of a framed murder, and restore your honor. Save your Game Often
It is essential in Like A Dragon: Ishin! that you save often, especially before going into any story missions. The game features an automatic system of saving your game, but these autosaves happen relatively rarely. This usually happens after a significant story progress or after completing a mini-game or other activity. The game allows you to manually save at any of the save points located throughout the game. These save points are represented by wooden boards with a white bird emblem on them. You will not be able to save your progress in dungeons or during cutscenes or in certain battles. In these cases, you will have to progress through the game until you reach a point where you can save again.
Best Fighting Style
Like A Dragon: Inshin! has four battle styles which you can switch between during combat. Brawler you fight with your fists and are allowed to pick up objects which can then be used as weapons or projectiles. Swordman and Gunman you are equipped with these weapons respectively. And then there is Wild Dancer which is the best fighting style of the four as it combines power, speed, and the ability to flip between ranged and melee attacks on the fly.
Explore Everywhere
There are no hidden secrets in the first area of Like A Dragon: Ishin! so you should just stick to the story and get to the next chapter. Once you enter the city of Kyo the game opens up a lot more. By exploring outside the story situations you will be able to find substories that will reward you with money, items, or things of value when you complete them.
Keep Well Stocked
When you reach a progress marker in Like A Dragon: Ishin! it usually indicates something significant is about to happen, such as a tough battle. Make sure before you agree to proceed you clear out the area you are currently in and have a full stock of healing items. You should be able to keep well-stocked naturally from the random battles you engage in which usually drop a healing item or two. Another source of health is finding the urns hidden around towns in alleys and out-of-the-way places. Urns can contain health potions or food that can restore your health. Keep in mind that not all urns contain healing items, some may contain traps that can harm your character.
Early Upgrades
The two currencies in Like A Dragon: Ishin! are money and virtue. You will be able to earn virtue by helping random citizens, completing quests, buying items, and praying at smaller shrines. The virtue you earn can then be spent at bigger shrines to obtain upgrades. It is recommended that the first two upgrades you invest in are Enhanced Sprinting to get more stamina to run around before you need a break and Inventory Capacity to get more space for items inside and outside of combat.
Best Early Weapon Upgrades
You will be able to unlock weapon upgrades once you get to Kyo by going to a smithy. Providing they have the right materials a smithy can upgrade swords, guns, and even accessories. The best early upgrade is buying a Bundle Blade from the local weapon store and then upgrading it to the Keen Blade. Another weapon you should consider improving is the Imported Revolver which can be upgraded to the High Revolver. Both upgrades are expensive and will require grinding for materials and money.
Pick Up Objects in Brawls
Switch to Brawler mode whenever you engage in a boss fight or are surrounded by multiple enemies as doing so will enable you to pick up large objects like chairs, benches, and so on and use them as weapons or projectiles that deal a lot of damage.
