Learn How Different Collectibles Work

In Kena: Bridge of Spirits, there are several kinds of collectibles you can find, and they are all worth hunting down for different reasons. Although the in-game map keeps track of your overall progress towards these collectibles, it doesn't point where they are. Listed below are the various collectibles and how they work.

Rot

The Rot is a species of little forest sprites that Kena gathers to help her on her quest. The Rot is the most important collectible in the game, as they unlock special abilities. The more Rot you collect, the higher your Rot Level, and the more Rot Actions you will have at your disposal. There are 100 Rot to collect in total, and they can be found hidden in places such as logs, stones, engraved tablets and sometimes inside chests. To collect Rot you simply have to pulse (L1) and press 'Triangle' on your controller.

Hats

The little forest sprites you collect called Rot can be adorned with a cosmetic called Hats. There are over 50 different Hats to find, most of which can be found inside chests and secret locations scattered around the land. Hats are also sometimes given as rewards for solving puzzles or beating challenges. To equip a Hat you have found you need to purchase it from a Hat Cart, of which there are several dotted around the land.

Flower Shrines

Flower Shrines are statues that are covered in corruption and in order to clear this corruption you will need to interact with a Forest Tear. When you do this, you will temporarily return the Rot to their natural form, which will then be able to attack the Flower Shrine and clear it of it's corruption. Once cleansed, the Flower Shrine will reward you with plenty of Gems.

Spirit Mail

Spirit Mail is post that's remained undelivered to lost souls, they are special items that can be collected and taken back to a particular house in the village. Spirit Mails appear in the world as golden sacks and when you find one a delivery point will be marked on your map. When you deliver the correct Spirit Mail to the correct house, a barrier will dissolve and unlock a new area which you will be able to explore and find collectibles inside. There are 10 Spirit Mails in total.

Cursed Chests

Cursed Chests will usually have a blue or orange emblem on them and once opened will trigger a combat challenge which if you successfully complete will turn the Cursed Chest into a regular chest that can be opened for a reward which will often be Gems or a Rot Hat.

Meditation Spots

Meditation Spots can be found in the game's most picturesque places and are well worth tracking down as the first time you find them they allow Kena to meditate and permanently increase her maximum health by more than double, which will help you considerably when you encounter the game's tougher enemies.
