Full Review for James Bond 007: GoldenEye by hellomotto999555111

Introduction

This game is pretty damn good. Good graphics, good controls, and excellent gameplay. A true breath of fresh air. Oh, did I mention the game utilized dual weapons. And it pulls it off with some flair, too. I can't find anything wrong with this game except the lack of lots of weapons, like most first person shooters have. Oh, sure, there's the dual Submachine Guns, The dual sawed- off shotguns, the dual high- powered handguns, the assault rife with scope, and the silenced sniper rifle, the rail gun, and the rocket launcher, but only one of each type of weapon. There are two more weapons, but they are both pains in the ass to use. There is the ray- gun kind of thing with a crappy scope and one shot kill, but it's hard to control and slow- firing, too. The other one is a pistol that you always start out with and never run out of ammo for, but it takes like 3 clips to kill even the first enemies. And there's the grenade too, and it's good. Now, there isn't enough sniping for us hardcore snipers, but everything is pulled off so nicely that I really don't mind. Other than that, the levels are lush, there's a lot of innovation, and the eye upgrades are nice too. I don't want to spoil anything for you, but there is a ray shield deployed from your eye, and it gets discharged into any enemy you melee. There's also MRI vision to look through cover, and hacking upgrade, which allows you to hach turrets and disable cameras and enemies' guns. The difficulty is kinda hard on hard mode, but the upgrades and cheats make it fun. Well, I hope this review was helpful. Always check Supercheats for your cheating needs.

Graphics

Graphics were good, but nothing special. I wish they spent some more time on them. Maybe if they made the enviornment more detailed, the enemies more varied, and the people's bodies more detailed inactual gameplay, I'd have given it an 8 or a 9. But cut- scenes are fantastic!

Sound

Great! Lots of variety for each weapon, footstep, footstep on each surface, and lots of absolutely fantastic voice acting. The sniper has it's own distinct PFFFT! The SMGs have their PRRRRRRR! And the shotguns have their PEKOO PEKOO! Awesome! Doesn't matter though, do you play for the sounds?

Gameplay

MORE SNIPING!!! MORE SNIPING DAMMIT! I always send mail in to the James Bond Game making folks saying more sniping! Other than that , yay! The story is good, the controls are intuitive and responsive, and if the enemies were any smarter, the game would be damn near impossible! There is one annoying level where the enemies have those crappy ray gun things, but it works fantastically for them, and they have perfect aim on this level! But with some decent reflexes, you're going to be just fine. Gameplay was great, I really enjoyed it!

Lastability

This game is good, but you get tired of it soon after you beat it.Online is good, and there's always someone on, but I can't find any real competition, but that's just me, as I spend most of my gaming time on FPSs. The real problem is a complete lack of splitscreen innovation. If they put half as much work into the splitscreen as they did with campaign, the multiplayer would be even better that Nightfire's multiplayer, and that's saying something! Nightfire won multiplayer of the year form 3 PS2 magazines when it came out! All I'm saying is they need to put some more time into the sequel if there is one! And I pray to GOD there is one!

Overall

THIS GAME ROCKS!!! Graphics are a little above average, weapons are good, although there isn't enough variety, and the gameplay is fresh! I love it! Multiplayer is underdone offline, but don't let that stop you, online is fantastic! I hope to god there is a sequel, with decent offline multiplayer, because this is possibly the second best FPS I've ever played( the first being Halo 2 or Nightfire. BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!
