When you jump over the barriers, try to jump lately and you will be tripped and won't get caught.
To stumble means to either have those little stars around your head when you bash into it or to simply bash into the obstacle or train but not to hard otherwise you will end the game.
If for example you bashed to hard in trying to so this act then you could lose your life. But if you were to gently enough bash into the opposing train then, yes you would be stumbling upon the train.
It officially means that you have had the stars around the head then you have stumbled upon it. Thank you for letting me answer your question.
