How do you walk backwards?

You don't necessarily walk backwards. What you do is jump onto slippery bark and let yourself slip down a few feet. But don't let yourself go so far that you slip.
By tapping quickly, the jump distance is reduced. Find a piece of slippery bark that covers both trees. Wait until the graphic of the character is off the screen, or at least one of the feet. Then tap and you will find yourself higher up, but not moving the screen. Repeat until you get the achievement.
