Jewel King and Mimic Units

What's the point of the Jewel King and Mimic units? Their stats are terrible and they cannot upgrade?

Jewel units (jewel ghost, jewel king, jewel god) are used to sell for zel. Zel in turn is used for fusing units (levelling up). Mimics are evolution materials which some of the units require in order to evolve. You can view the required evolution units by selecting 'Unit' followed by the 'Evolve' option and then selecting any unit that is lit up.
