If you play this game at a slow pace and are diligent about clearing out new areas you will be able to play this game for free without spending real-world cash. If however the temptation is too much you can spend real-world cash to unlock new paths and animals sooner.
Smart
Make smart selections when you are recruiting taking into account the zones your new recruits will be able to clear as you will not know what type of terrain you will unlock so it makes sense that you have an ally that is suited for all types. Using this strategy will also reduces the wait time that is required to specifically rescue different animals.
