Into the Breach is a turn-based strategy game set in the far future where humanity fights against an army of giant monsters collectively called the Vek. You control a soldier that operates a giant mech that can be equipped with a variety of weapons, armor, and other equipment. The game uses a turn-based combat system, allowing you to coordinate the actions of your team in response to enemy moves and actions that serve to telegraph their attacks.

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include why you should synergize attacks and why you should play aggressively defensive:

Use the Environment

Always look to take advantage of the environment as there are multiple hazards such as volcanoes, mountains, mines, and water which can be exploited to destroy enemies nearby. Using the environment in such a way is the key to winning a battle when outnumbered and outgunned.

Don't Spawn Block

Standing over a spawn point so that you prevent enemy reinforcements from arriving and swarming the map is not an effective strategy because while you are idly standing in one spot the enemy is gaining better positioning and attacking allies. It is more beneficial for the team if you help deal with the threats that are already on the map rather than trying to prevent new ones from appearing.

Synergize Attacks

Take the time to learn how to synergize attacks as there are various abilities which when paired together will enable you to get more done in fewer turns. For example, some Mechs can place smoke while others can turn smoke into a deadly weapon for Vek which makes paring these two Mechs together in fights a great strategy. Every Mech in the game has at least one other they can pair with to achieve better results in combat.

Play Aggressively Defensive

The objective of the game is to survive each round by running out the clock therefore instead of being offensive minded you should be aggressively defensive. This means you should just focus on eliminating the enemies that pose the greatest threat, especially if it is to your Powergrid.

Choose Reputation as the Reward

The most important resource in the game is Reputation so when you are given the option of what reward to pursue the priority should be given to Reputation. There are though a few exceptions.
