To upgrade a broom in Hogwarts Legacy you have to play the trials, flying through the rings until you complete the course. Do your best to get each ring to maximise your score.
With the trail done, check your time, and if you have beat the fastest time, speak to Imelda and then to Weekes to finish the quest. Weekes will upgrade your broom if you have completed the trial with a record time.
There is a little cost though with the broom upgrade, so be prepared to pay 1,000 for the upgraded broom when it is ready to be collected. The Owl Post will inform you.
Apart from this first upgrade you can also upgrade the broom again by beating two more of the timed flying trials from Imelda. Weekes will tell you about each upgrade.
Here is a list of all the brooms that you can get in the game, of course you'll need to get one of these first before you can upgrade it! More brooms may be added to the game at a later date.
If you are wondering how to get a broom, then basically you unlock the ability to purchase a broom at Spintwitches Sporting Needs in Hogsmeade pretty soon after starting the game, so if you've not unlocked it just yet, maybe play a little longer for it to be unlocked.
