Hello Cats is a puzzle strategy game where you take on the role of a cat owner who has to draw various shapes with your fingers on the screen so they interact with the background to solve the puzzle which is to reach a cat. The cats will be in all sorts of awkward places and to solve each puzzle you will need an understanding of physics, a sense of persception, and a little bit of imagination. Your goal will vary from puzzle to puzzle, it could be giving the cat water to drink, knocking them off a platform, or waking them up with a water balloon.

Drawing Shapes

You can only draw a set number of shapes for each puzzle and it must be completed inside a certain amount of time to be successful. You do not get penalised in any way for failing an attempt to solve the puzzle, you just have to start over and rethink your strategy. Whatever the solution of the puzzle is you can be sure of one thing, it will be in accordance with the laws of physics. The closed shape you draw on the screen whether it is flat or round, big or small doesn't have to look perfect, it just needs to get the job done. Eventually you will reach the stage where the solution to the puzzles will involve having to draw two or more shapes in order to reach the cat.

How to Earn Gems

When you complete levels you will be rewarded with gems that are in the shape of fish which are then used to unlock new cats that include normal, rare, and special ones. The amount of gems your are rewarded is determined by how many stars you get solving the puzzle, this is calculated by how many moves it took you to solve the puzzle. Basically, if you can solve the puzzle in the minimum number of moves you will earn the maximum of 3 stars and the more stars you are awarded the more gems your earn. If you have an internet connection you will be given the opportunity after you complete a level to earn 200 more gems by watching a video advertisement.

Unlocking Cats

At the cat store you will be able to spend the gems you have earned on a box, or you can watch a video advertisement in order to get a free box. Inside each box will be a piece of a cat and once you have all four pieces of the same cat it will become unlocked. The more expensive the box the higher-tier the cat will be. Although the cats all look different they will all play the same regardless of tier.

Unlocking Treasure Boxes

If a treasure box appears next to a cat when you begin a level it is to indicate that after you have solved the puzzle you will be able to watch a video advertisement in order to open a treasure chest. Opening this treasure chest will give you the opportunity to spin for a number of prizes, half of which will be for varying numbers of gems. The others will be for boxes, three for the 100 gem box, and one for the 300 gem box, which will contain the rarities.

Interactive Objectives

Some of the puzzles you are presented with will feature interactive objects such as dynamite, rockets, screws, and hooks which you can use to your advantage to reach the cat. Dynamite once it has been blown up will not respawn again so you have one attempt to perform a lucky strike. Don't worry if your attempt fails though as you will be able to repeat the stage without consequence. To use rockets you have to hang a drawn object on them, they will usually fly in a straight line but their trajectory can be altered by hanging objects of a different wieight on them so you unbalance them. Don't worry about the different interactive objects as the game will show you tutorials on how to make use of them when you first come across a puzzle that has one.

Use Hints

Hello Cats is entirely free and has no premium purchase options that involve spending real money. In order to use a hint you just have to click on the light bulb that is in the upper left corner of the game and watch a 30 second long video advertising another mobile game. Try to memorise and learn from the hints you are shown.
