How to Make Wild Animals your Pets
You will encounter several wild animals as you explore Harvest Moon: One World. The kind of wild animal you will find will be determined by the season, day of the week, and time of the day. In the first area alone there is a Brown Bear, Bobcat, Fox, and Hare. In order for these wild animals to become your pet you must first tame them.
To tame a wild animal you need to walk up to them and press the interaction button on your controller to pet it. When you pet the wild animal a burst of tiny hearts will appear which will count towards taming it. Once you have filled up the wild animal's music bar by returning to them several times you will be asked if you want to keep the then now-tamed animal as a pet. If you accept the wild animal will now join your farm as a pet, and you will need to keep it happy by interacting with it each day and filling up it's food bowl.
There are certain items that you need to gather for the various story requests in Harvest Moon: One World. The game will not tell you what these items are and not having them will prevent story-progression. Listed below are some of these essential items you need to gather along with where to find them and the storyline that they are needed for.
Hibiscus 6 Hibiscus are needed for the Pastilla storyline. You can find seeds all over Halo Halo.
Chamomile 3 Chamomile are needed for the Pastilla storyline. You can find seeds behind Saeed's palace.
Watermelons 3 Watermelons are needed for the Pastilla storyline. You will be able to find seeds in Halo Halo, near the pond at Halo Halo entrance before 12 PM, and in the Grizzly Bear area south of the Marriage Hall.
Black Wool Black Wool is needed for the Salmiakki storyline. You can get it from a Valais sheep purchased at the Pastilla animal shop. Buy one early in the game as animals take time to grow.
Milk You can get Milk from cows or from one of Braden's requests. 10X Milk is needed for the Lebkuchen storyline.
How to Save your Game
Saving your game in Harvest Moon: One World can be done two different ways. The easiest of which is just before you go to sleep. When you go to your bed you will be given the option to 'Sleep' or 'Save and Sleep', if you select the later you will be able to pick a save slot to keep your progress and also move the game forward. The other way in which to save your game is by opening the DocPad, going to the 'Save/Load' tab and selecting the 'Save' option.
How to get More Seeds
Scattered in each of the areas in Harvest Moon: One World are the little blue Harvest Wisps which give you different seeds. The type of seeds they give you is determined by the area, the time of day, and the weather. Harvest Wisps respawn each day so if you take a trip from your farm, around your local area and back there is a good possibility that you will be able to get a few from the same pathways and routes you traversed earlier but a different type of seed. Therefore, to ensure you get every seed available in each area you need to tread the routes at different times of the day and in different weather conditions.
How to Find Seeds
Eventually after playing for a while you will be given access to the Harvest Wisp search function which you can use to locate seeds that you have already found. This can be done by going into the World Map, via the DocPad and pressing the 'Harvest Wisp List' button which is located to the bottom left of the map. This feature will help you to search crops and flowers that you have already found by showing you the general area where they appear on the World Map.
How to Upgrade your Bag
Make sure you visit your mother whenever you obtain a new Medallion in order for her to upgrade your Bag for free. It is important that you do this because initially you will not be able to carry much in your bag. You can also upgrade your bag by visiting your mother each time you complete a town. Doc will remind you to visit her the day after you complete it, eventually you will be able to build up to a 72-item Bag.
How to Move your Farm
In Harvest Moon: One World the Expando-Farm is a tool that is unlocked at the beginning of the game when you complete the hometown questline. The tool itself which is named Sparky can be found on your farm, and it allows you to move your farm from one place to another. In order to activate the Expando-Farm you must fill Sparky's bar up with produce and other items. Save your Acorns and Mushrooms for your Expando-Farm's 'Sparky' system as these are more efficient than most of the crops.
Once Sparky's bar is full you will be asked if you want to put away your farm in order to move it to a new location. This will only include your buildings and livestock and not your farm plots and crops. To expand your farm again at the new location you need to press the 'Action' button on the Sparky Icon at the new area you found.
Use the Storage Compartments in your Home
There are two different types of storage compartments inside your home and using them can make your bag easier to navigate. These two storage compartments are the fridge which you can store fresh produce and food and the other is the drawers which enables you to store raw materials and seeds. Make sure before you head out each day that you check your bag to see that all the stuff you are taking with you is necessary. Leaving things behind in the storage compartments you don't need will give you free space to pick up objects.
First, you must mine iron ore from any mine. Then, take the iron ore to Doc Jr.'s machine inside his home. For 40G each he will process your iron ore into iron.
Animal Feed is made from processed grass which is produced through your windmill once installed. Animal Feed can also be purchased at the different General Stores. To feed the animals you must place the Animal Feed in the metallic feeding bins that are found throughout the barn by standing next to them and pressing A on your controller.
