Grand Theft Auto IV is a pretty good game; it's a major jump in details and realisticism. (I know that's not a word.) The new phone ability, and the "Internet" are very big, they provide things to do once you've beat the story line, and don't feel like doing the side missions.
The graphics on the game are superb. If you get close enough and pull out your phone, it actually show what you're doing, not just some weird looking thing. And the cars, don't get me started: the cars are just plain amazing in details. And the buildings! As usual, Rockstar games takes real life buildings and puts them in the game. Like the "Rotterdam Tower" AKA The Empire State building.
The sound on the game is almost perfect, albeit a few glitches, but nothing too noticeable. Aside from that, you can here sirens from a police car or ambulance from atop a 20 story building. And the explosions are more realistic as well. You can even here your headlights break if you hit them on or with something.
Sadly, the game play is just the same from all the other Grand Theft Auto's. Kill people, race this guy, help this guy, steal this, steal that, kill another guy, kill the guy you were working for, etc. You get the idea. The story itself is not the best. I strongly recommend having either the extra episodes or or multi-player available.
Although the story is not the best, if does not hurt the lastibility as much as you would expect it to be hurt. Most of this goes to the excellent graphics and the "time-passers" like the internet and phone, although there's a lot more on the "internet."
Despite the bad storyline, not necessarily bad, moreover just old story, Grand Theft Auto IV is definitely worth buying. Not only is it quite popular, it helps set up the Next GTA, V. Yes, they're going to have one of those. As an owner of this game, it is a good buy.
