Granblue Fantasy: Relink Cheats and Tips

Get off to a great start in this action RPG with our top Granblue Fantasy: Relink cheats and tips for this game that is available to play on PS4, PS5 and PC.

Chaining Skybound Arts (SBA)

Skybound Art (SBA) is the game's flashy ultimate attack that characters can pull off once their gauge reaches 100%. You can chain the SBA of everyone in your party and even pull off an even more powerful attack called a Full Burst. You must remember that each time an SBA is activated, 10% SBA energy is also added to the team. This means you don't need to wait for everyone to reach 100% SBA energy before activating your chain.

In the example below, the following energy gauge for each character will be enough to trigger a full burst:

  • Gran 100%
  • Katalina 90%
  • Rakham 80%
  • Io 70%

After Gran triggers his SBA, everyone gets +10% energy, which will turn to the following values:

  • Katalina 100%
  • Rakham 90%
  • Io 80%

Once Katalina triggers her SBA, Rakham's energy becomes 100%, Io 90%, and so on.

Blocking is surprisingly broken

Granblue Fantasy Relink has two defensive combat moves: Dodge and Block. Dodging is responsive but somewhat clunky. Not only that, you'll have to rely on proper timing so if you're not really good with that sort of thing, you may find the dodging mechanic in the game forgiving. On the other hand, Blocking in the game is ridiculously good as it can withstand some of the most powerful blows or combos from enemies (except from the unblockable ones and powerful projectile blasts). Blocking is easier to pull off and provides you with a better window to counterattack so try to get comfortable with this defensive mechanic.

Don't grind early in the game

You'll gain access to NPC quests and the Quest Counter where you can complete repeatable quests for some rewards. It might be good to do this for a bit but I highly recommend avoid grinding too much until you reach the end game (around 10 hours without heavy grinding) to reach the Veteran Skyrarer grade. This will unlock Extreme Difficulty quests which will yield more rewards and gold per run.

Crewmate Cards

You'll have a fixed party until Chapter 4 where you'll receive a Crewmate Card courtesy of Siokarte. This event is part of the story and can't be missed. This card will allow you to pick any character that you want to add to your team. In Chapter 6, you'll have another chance to obtain another crewmate card. Additional cards can also be obtained from missions.

If you have a favorite character in mind, choosing him/her is not a wrong decision. However, if you're not sure who to pick, consider getting Cagliostro. This character is the best support unit in the game with the ability to heal, revive, and apply crit and defensive buffs. Some considerations that you can go for as well is Lancelot and Charlotta as these two DPS characters are quite newbie friendly.

Maintain a small pool of (favorite) characters

The game can be quite grindy, especially if you're trying to farm for the weapons for your favorite characters. Since the weapons you can get will depend on the characters you already own, maintaining a small pool of characters until later in the game will allow you to somewhat play with the RNG of the game and keep the probable weapons that you can get from boss drops.

Focus enhancing your main party

To get the most out of your characters, you'll have to improve their weapons and level up their masteries. Weapons will require a lot of rupies (currency) and other raw materials while masteries will require points that can be quite scarce as well. Focusing on a small set of characters to continuously improve will make sure that you have a team in tip-top condition instead of spreading your limited resources to characters that you won't be using often anyway. Focus on improving the offensive masteries of your DPS units first since defeating enemies quicker will always be strategic. Besides, keeping them alive through support skills is very manageable.

Upgrade Weapons Regularly

In normal RPGs, outdated weapons are only good for selling or re-purposing as raw materials. Thankfully, weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink are valuable. Each character has their own set of exclusive weapons (they can't interchange or swap weapons with other characters). These weapons have masteries tied to them and to unlock these masteries, you'll need to level up these weapons. The higher the level, the more masteries unlocked.

Weapon Sigils

These are special items in the game that provide various boosts or buffs to the weapons where you attach them to. They can be farmed through repeatable quests but farming for them early on can become a time waster since you're just going to be stuck with low-tier sigils. If you want to get the best sigils and more bang for the buck for your time, I suggest trodding through the main story and reach the end-game. This way, you can just use the Transmutation option in Siero's Knick-Knack Shop. Alternatively, you can also use Dalia badges to purchase them outright from the same shop. These badges can be easily farmed by using the Quick Quest feature.

Don't Sell Materials and Sigils

Rupies can be hard to come by while you're tackling the main story but that's okay. Resist the temptation of selling your low-tier sigils and materials in exchange for rupies. Hold on to them until you reach the end-game point where you can trade your low-tier sigils for vouchers that you can use for Transmutation and a chance to get higher-tier sigils.
