God Of War Ragnarok is an open-world action-adventure game that is part of the God Of War series. The game is set in Scandinavia and is loosely based on Norse mythology. Take a look at our collection of cheats and tips for this fantasy game that is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The freezing winds of Fimbulwinter have come to Midgard, making survival for Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir in the Norse wilds even more challenging than before. The realms have grown harsher, and a whole host of new creatures from across Norse mythology will test your skills.
God Of War Ragnarok will take you to the previously unreachable Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard - as well as to new areas from locations featured in the last game of the series.
Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include why you should regularly consult your map and why you shouldn't be too concerned about dying.
Your map is an invaluable resource that you should consult regularly to find out how many ravens are in the area you are exploring and if there are any Nornir chests.
There is certain information that will remain hidden though, for example it will not track standard chests or tell you if a collectible in the area is one that you don't currently have the capabilities to gather.
Keep in mind the camera in Gods Of War Raganarok will try and deceive you. For example, before you head down a long path the camera is aiming you down be sure to look around as treasure can often be found just out of view.
Also make a point when you enter a new area to view it from another perspective. For example, if you get some height and view the area from above you will discover different things can be seen and found.
Use headphones if you have them to play God Of War Ragnarok as sound is an important part of the game. You will be able to detect the location of Odin's ravens even if these creatures are out of sight by their cawing in the distance.
During combat it is important that you listen to Mimir and Atreus as they will warn you about enemies being at your back. When you hear this audio cue you simply need to roll away to escape the danger.
It is important to remember that you will not be able to gather all the collectibles in God Of War Ragnarok the first time you encounter them. You can easily find out if it is a collectible you are currently not equipped to deal with by listening to your companion who will inform you that you do not have the right tools.
When this happens make a mental note of the collectible's location and return to it later when you have the capability to retrieve it.
Dying in God Of War Ragnarok is not the most serious of consequences. The game will automatically save your game at frequent intervals as you progress, and you can also manually save it by pressing the 'Options' button on your controller to pause the game and then scrolling down to the 'SAVE' tab using either the D-Pad or the left analog stick.
This means if you do die during a fight you aren't forced to backtrack too far. Some boss battles even provide you with checkpoints, so if a fight has multiple phases you won't be forced to repeat any of them.
