===========================

For over a decade, the Star Fox games have been one of Nintendo's greatest
works, but also one of the least recognized ones. Star Fox Assault is the
fourth addition to the series, and the second for the GameCube. This time
around, your main enemy is the aparoids, robotic creatures that are controlled
by a queen aparoid. You must work your way through the game and reach the queen
aparoid, then destroy her to eliminate all aparoids completely.

This FAQ is designed to provide various bits of information on the game and
gameplay modes, as well as help you through the ten missions with strategies
and tactics for winning. So, let's begin.

                              Section 2A - Story
                             ====================

The story of Star Fox is long and epic. It started with Corneria, he fourth
planet of the peaceful Lylat system, being threatened by the forces of the mad
scientist Andross. In response this crisis, the Cornerian commander-in-chief,
General Pepper, entrusts the fate of the planet to Fox, Falco, Slippy, and
Peppy, who together form the Star Fox team. After many vicious battles, the
mercenaries reach the enemy stronghold on the planet Venom, where Fox
challenges Andross to single combat. After a pitched battle, Fox narrowly
defeats Andross, and the threat is vanquished.

A few years after the Andross affair, Fox is hired to investigate the planet
Sauria. After adventuring across the surface, he reveal Andross as the culprit
behind the troubles. The team is forced into a ferocious battle, but when it
seems all is lost, Falco rejoins the team in the nick of time and Star Fox once
again defeats Andross. With the reinstatement of Falco and the addition of the
mysterious young woman, Krystal, a new Star Fox team is born.

And now, one year has passed. After getting kicked out of Star Wolf's band of
thugs, Andrew Oikonny takes control of his dead uncle Andross's remaining army
and starts a rebellion. The Cornerian fleet is sent out to deal with the rebels
and hostilities commence. However, Oikony's army uses unexpected guerrilla
tactics and the battle takes a turn for the worse. The exasperated General
Pepper asks his old friend Peppy to help stop Oikonny and the Star Fox team
takes off on a new mission!

                           Section 2C - Characters
                          =========================

Below is a list of the characters featured in the game. 'Playable' signifies
whether or not you can use them in multiplayer mode.

+---------------+
Star Fox Team
+---------------+
       Name - Fox McCloud
   Playable - Yes
Description - The leader of the Star Fox team and the main character of the
game who you'll control throughout the missions. Fox has been
through thick and thin, and you can always rely on him to get the
              job done right.

       Name - Falco Lombardi
   Playable - Yes
Description - Falco is the ace pilot of the Star Fox team. He enjoys spitting
out sarcastic and amusing comments every now and then, but when
it comes to shooting somebody out of the air, he'll get the job
done. He is second in command to Fox.

       Name - Slippy Toad
   Playable - Yes
Description - While he's a brilliant mechanic, Slippy tends to be very
accident-prone, and you'll find yourself saving him in most, if
not all, of the missions. Otherwise, he's great with the
Landmaster and very dedicated to his work.

       Name - Krystal
   Playable - Yes
Description - The newest member of the Star Fox team is Krystal, a mysterious
young woman with extrasensory perception. She is able to foresee
certain events and sense what others are feeling, an ability that
comes in handy more frequently throughout the game.

       Name - Peppy Hare
   Playable - Yes
Description - Peppy is a retired member of the Star Fox team who once flew
alongside his fellow crew members. However, age has caught up to
him and he now remains away from battle in the Great Fox, issuing
instructions and advice to the team.

       Name - ROB
   Playable - No
Description - ROB is assigned to the Great Fox. He assists Peppy with his
duties, provides various bits of information throughout the game
and sends vehicles down to the crew.

+----------------+
Star Wolf Team
+----------------+
       Name - Wolf O'Donnell
   Playable - Yes
Description - Wolf is well known throughout the Lylat system for being the
leader of his gang, Star Wolf. He and Fox are rivals and cross
paths with each other at numerous points in the game, but
they tend to work together to eliminate the aparoid threat.

       Name - Leon Powalski
   Playable - No
Description - A member of the Star Wolf team, Leon is Falco's rival and they
frequently threaten to shoot each other down. Leon is a cold-
blooded assassin that will perform any task without much
              interest.

       Name - Panther Caroso
   Playable - No
Description - The newest member of the Star Wolf team, he is an ace pilot that
constantly tries to catch Krystal's eye whenever the two teams
cross paths. The red rose is his symbol, the last thing his
enemies see before they are shot down.

+------------------+
Other Characters
+------------------+
       Name - General Pepper
   Playable - No
Description - He was once the commanding officer of Peppy and James McCloud
(Fox's Father) many years back, when they were members of the
team. Now he will occasionally pop in to brief the group on what
is going on and what needs to be done.

       Name - Pigma Dengar
   Playable - No
Description - A very unreliable and traitorous scum who was kicked out of Star
Wolf. He thinks of nothing other than himself and is constantly a
pain in the neck for the Star Fox team.

                 --------------------------------------------

                        Section 2D - Items & Powerups
                       ===============================

There are various useful items and powerups that you'll come across during the
missions and in multiplayer mode. These are listed below.

+-----------+
The Items
+-----------+
       Name - Barrier
    Used By - Pilots
Description - When used, this provides a temporary barrier that lasts for
approximately 30 seconds and deflects all attacks. However, this
barrier can be weakened much more quickly when it is being
attacked constantly. Gatling Guns tend to be effective if the
target is standing there, as they can take out the barrier with
about 25-30 clean hits. This barrier is extremely useful,
allowing you to be a walking bomb if you run around while holding
a grenade, or snipe others without fear of being hit from behind.

       Name - Smart Bomb
    Used By - Arwings
Description - These are Arwing-only items, but when you pick one of these up
and use it you'll immediately see its destructive power. You can
take out enemies with one blow and human opponents will take
serious damage in multiplayer mode. However, these are uncommon
and you need to use them wisely and conservatively.

       Name - Stealth Suit
    Used By - Pilots
Description - This is a Multiplayer only item that appears occasionally in some
stages and randomly in others. When you get it, you automatically
become invisible for 60 seconds, allowing you to go wherever you
want without being detected. This is a sniper's favorite item,
allowing them to go right in the open and shoot anybody and
anything from the most convenient spot. The effect wears off if
              you enter a vehicle, though.

       Name - 1-Up
Used By - Pilots, Landmasters, Arwings
Description - Simply put, when you collect one of these, whether it's on foot,
on a Landmaster, or in an Arwing, you get an extra life.

+---------------+
The Power-Ups
+---------------+
       Name - Silver Ring
    Used By - Landmasters, Arwings
Description - When you get this common item, your Landmaster/Arwing will have
25% of its health bar restored.

       Name - Golden Ring
    Used By - Landmasters, Arwings
Description - When you get this uncommon item, your Landmaster/Arwing will have
50% of its health bar restored.

       Name - Platinum Ring
    Used By - Landmasters, Arwings
Description - When you get this rare item, your Landmaster/Arwing will have
100% of its health bar restored, bringing you to perfect health.

       Name - Green Health Box
    Used By - Pilots
Description - When you get this common item, your character will have 25% of
              their health bar restored.

       Name - White Health Box
    Used By - Pilots
Description - When you get this uncommon item, your character will have 50% of
              their health bar restored.

       Name - Yellow Health Box
    Used By - Pilots
Description - When you get this rare item, your character will have 100% of
their health bar restored, bringing you to perfect health.

       Name - Green Power Upgrade
    Used By - Landmasters, Arwings
Description - Pick this up, and your Landmaster/Arwing attack power will be
increased by one level. While it doesn't sound like much, this is
actually a very big increase, which allows you to do about twice
the damage you normally would. These are uncommon and appear
every now and then. The effect wears off when you exit the
              vehicle, though.

       Name - Red Power Upgrade
    Used By - Landmasters, Arwings
Description - Pick this up, and your Landmaster/Arwing attack power will be
increased by two levels. Compared to your original power this is
a massive increase, giving you about triple the power and three
times the damage you normally would. These are extremely rare.
The effect wears off when you exit the vehicle, though.

                 --------------------------------------------

                             Section 2E - Weapons
                            ======================

There is a wide variety of weapons available at your disposal in Star Fox
Assault, which are listed below.

        Name - Blaster
Initial Ammo - Infinite
Maximum Ammo - Infinite
Description - The blaster is the main weapon which all characters start out
with. It can be fired in single, quick shots by just
continuously tapping A, or for a more powerful shot, it can be
charged up by holding A down. Decent weapon if used right.

        Name - Machine Gun
Initial Ammo - 200
Maximum Ammo - 999
Description - The Machine Gun is a fairly common weapon that is able to fire
rapidly and you'll usually hit somebody who's bouncing in front
of you if you keep shooting it. However if you hit them, the
effect is minimal, making this a good gun only if you have
collected multiples so you have a ton of bullets to fire.

        Name - Gatling Gun
Initial Ammo - 100
Maximum Ammo - 999
Description - Gatling Guns are simply souped-up versions of the Machine Gun,
with more powerful hits, so powerful that you will knock off 1/8
of the opponents health every time you hit them. Extremely
useful for getting rid of barriers or getting that finishing
               blow on your opponent.

        Name - Sniper Rifle
Initial Ammo - 10
Maximum Ammo - 99
Description - This is my personal favorite weapon. There's simply nothing more
pleasing then killing someone who thinks they're in the clear
over 50 meters away. With this weapon you can hit someone from
long-range and usually kill them with one hit (like in most
games, this sniper is ridiculously overpowered). Extremely
useful if you've got a good hiding place and even better if
               you're invisible.

        Name - Grenade
Initial Ammo - 5
Maximum Ammo - 99
Description - Grenades are essentially bombs that will detonate a few seconds
after you throw them. These are useful for clearing out a large
area filled with enemies, allowing you to throw then dodge out
of harm's way, clearing your path. In multiplayer mode, if you
have a barrier, you can use it and then pull out a grenade and
run after your opponents, making you a walking bomb.

        Name - Plasma Cannon
Initial Ammo - Infinite
Maximum Ammo - Infinite
Description - This is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, but
unfortunately you'll only get a chance to use it twice and it
isn't available in multiplayer. You also can only use it when on
the wing of a aircraft. Basically, this weapon will fire an
unlimited amount of bullets at the opponent (like a blaster
would) with extreme power for as long as you hold down A. Very
useful for getting a high hit count.

        Name - Homing Launcher
Initial Ammo - 10
Maximum Ammo - 99
Description - These are very powerful and useful weapons that will lock on to
any enemy/opponent and fire a missile at them. It can be fired
from a long range and still hit the opponent, or you can
continuously run behind the opponent and keep nailing them with
it while they try to jump around or get away.

        Name - Sensor Bomb
Initial Ammo - 5
Maximum Ammo - 99
Description - The name speaks for itself. Drop one of these, then you'll have
about three seconds to run away before it is activated. Then,
anybody that decides to run by without noticing the flashing red
that surrounds it will take a lot of damage. These are best
placed in hard-to-see areas, so that by the time they realize
               it, they've been hit.

        Name - Demon Launcher
Initial Ammo - 3
Maximum Ammo - 3
Description - This weapon exists only in Multiplayer, and was created to
balance things out. If you are the first one to get down to your
last life, you'll automatically get one of these, allowing you
to home in on your opponent and one-hit KO them every time.
You've only got three bullets though, so use it wisely.

        Name - Demon Sniper Rifle
Initial Ammo - 5
Maximum Ammo - 99
Description - These are unlocked by collecting all of the S-Flags in all of
the missions. They are simply a more powerful version of the
Sniper Rifle, which really doesn't make a difference against
pilots because they can already be almost always one-hit KOed by
the normal weapon. Therefore this is only more powerful against
               Landmasters and Arwings.

        Name - Fireburst Pod
Initial Ammo - 1
Maximum Ammo - 1
Description - When you pick one up, you can drop it down anywhere, then you
better run as quickly as you can out of the area because within
a few seconds it'll detonate with massive force within a large
               blast radius.

                 --------------------------------------------

                             Section 2F - Vehicles
                            =======================

There are three vehicles that are playable in Star Fox Assault, with the Wolfen
only being available in Multiplayer.

       Name - Landmaster (Anti-Aircraft Tank)
Description - The Landmaster is extremely useful for ground battles, allowing
to run over smaller enemies and shoot the stronger ones with
your powerful shots. It can also hover in the air for a short
period of time and even shoot down enemies in the air with ease.

       Name - Arwing (Space Fighter)
Description - The Arwing is the Star Fox team's spacecraft, which allows for
flying combat. It is the main fighting vehicle and is extremely
powerful. It can pull of various defensive maneuvers and be
equipped with bombs or an even stronger laser fire.

                            ======================

Well, that's pretty much it! You've reached the end of my Star Fox Assault FAQ.
Hopefully you enjoyed reading this, and that it was helpful to you in some
way. I also hope you appreciate this work - it came from hours upon hours of
typing, playing, and staring at a computer screen to compile this FAQ.

That's all I have to say. See you in the next FAQ!

The link itself says it all, my ASCII art for the first page came from here.
It doesn't just come in one font, either - there are many other types as well,
I just chose to use a rather simple one.

**Star Fox Assault Instruction Booklet**
Most of the storyline was obtained from here.

**GameFAQs Codes & Secrets for Star Fox Assault**
Most of the Unlockables section information was obtained from here.

**Jeff 'CJayC' Veasey**
Without him, this FAQ wouldn't exist in the first place. He has the best video
game reference site I've ever found in GameFAQs, and I hope he continues with
it for years to come. I can't thank him enough.

**You**
Why you? Because as the reader, you provide me with a reason to write. What
use would this guide be without people to read it? Thank you.

                          Section 6C - Contacting Me
                         ============================

Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Corrections? If you have anything to say, you
can email me at bowser194(at)gmail(dot)com. You can also find me on the boards,
but that definitely isn't the best way of talking with me. Email is preferred.

I'm generous enough to give you the privilege of contacting me, so please do
not abuse this privilege. When e-mailing me, please put Star Fox Assault
somewhere in the title, just so I have an idea of what the email has to do
with, and so I don't think it's spam. The odds are that you will receive a
response if you followed the above guidelines.

Do not email me asking for permission to host this guide. If you're not on the
list found in the copyright section, your request will be turned down.

Simple, I hope.
