Question for The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures

I'm in the Ice Temple. I just got the second level flame thrower and I don't know what to do now. After I got it upgraded, I went to the other room thats open. There's an ice Island thingy in the middle of a dark chasm and three switches in the middle.

I can get the two farthest switches to light up with bombs, but I cant get the closest one. I've tried throwing one of those fire blocks at it and bombs, but it won't light up.

Please help! Is that even where I'm supposed to go next? If so, how do I get that stupid switch to light up?

Go back to the room with the skull tiles, and get the boomerang. Use the boomerang on the first switch, bombs on the other two. Then go back to skull tile room, get fire rod (taking it to Great Fairy to get a level two fire rod). Then you can proceed on, using the key you got once you got those switches on!
